Pet Shop Boys to score Eisenstein's Potemkin

http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/...250673,00.html

The Pet Shop Boys have written a soundtrack to Sergei Eisenstein's film Battleship Potemkin, which they will perform live in Trafalgar Square on September 12. Here Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant explains why
Megacool.

Sounds awsome. When Criterion's Eisenstein: The Silent Films finnally happens I hope they get this score as an option.

Wow, three things I never expected to see in a sentence: Pet Shop Boys, Battleship Potemkin, and Trafalgar Square.

Regardless, silent films with live music accompaniment are always worthwhile.

It makes sense. I hear that Eisenstein was a big fan of the band.

Nice news!

I wish more contemporary musicians would be adventurous like this. I've enjoyed the Phillip Glass scores (Dracula, Beauty & The Beast), Einhorn's Passion of Joan of Arc and even liked Morodor's Metropolis score.

Now if we could get Tangerine Dream back into the scoring business.....

Hmm... the Russian revolution set to 80's gay synthpop. I don't think so.

That'll be interesting. But I think I'll stick to the conventional score.
