The Pet Shop Boys have written a soundtrack to Sergei Eisenstein's film Battleship Potemkin, which they will perform live in Trafalgar Square on September 12. Here Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant explains why

Wow, three things I never expected to see in a sentence: Pet Shop Boys, Battleship Potemkin, and Trafalgar Square.
Regardless, silent films with live music accompaniment are always worthwhile.

It makes sense. I hear that Eisenstein was a big fan of the band.

Nice news!
I wish more contemporary musicians would be adventurous like this. I've enjoyed the Phillip Glass scores (Dracula, Beauty & The Beast), Einhorn's Passion of Joan of Arc and even liked Morodor's Metropolis score.
Now if we could get Tangerine Dream back into the scoring business.....
