Looking for spider movies (like 8 legged Freaks, Arachnophobia, etc)

What are some names of spider movies? Preferably ones with big spiders, but any will do. Good or bad, doesn't matter, I'll do the research on what I want to pick up, though a few words on what you think of the movie would be useful.

Any I rent or buy would be for my 6 year old son (with me watching with him), so if anything is grossly inappropriate for a child, please point it out.

And yes, I know about Spiderman, but I'm talking about actual insects. Movies like:

Starship Troopers (I & II)
Arachnophobia
8 Legged Freaks

Thanks!

Starship Troopers isn't grossly inappropriate for a 6 year old?

You want big spiders? How about:

THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073043/

I remember seeing a trailer for this back when I was a kid and it looked scary and I was dying to see it. Finally saw some of it years later. Its pretty bad. It's PG, so OK for kids (well its hard to say that this movie is good for anyone but...)

And yeah, Starship Troopers isn't exactly kid-friendly.

Never too early to turn your kids on to Fritz Lang.

And to make it three, Starship Troopers is not appropriate for your child.

My recommendation, although not a spider movie per se (it is actually an ANT movie), would be Them!.

I'd like to recommend Kingdom Of The Spiders, but your six year old probably wouldn't sleep for a month.

Damn good spider flick, though.

Can't remember if Tarantula is out on DVD, or, not, but that would be a great little b movie spider flick to watch with your son.

Dude, even Arachnaphobia is a little intense for a 6 year old boy. I remember in the theater, there were grown men SCREAMING at certain parts. It's very realistic, and IIRC they used mostly real spiders for the film. Very scary for a PG-13.

Eight Legged Freaks is just stupid enough that it may be appropriate.

That was the first one that came to mind for me as well.

Can't go wrong with the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.. Shelob the giant Spider. But of course, you would have to sit it out through the first and second series of the trilogy first.

I also remember Kingdom of the Spiders fondly from childhood. There was a movie on MST3000 called something like Island of Giant Spiders one time. Very, very cheesy, but funny.

"The Believers" had some spiders that creeped me out! of course that could be because they were coming out of a woman's cheek, but that is just me!

After I watched Arachnophobia I couldn't sleep for about a week. And I wasn't exactly a young boy when I saw it either . I knew better than to watch since I'm slightly arachnophibic (not all spiders, but the bigger they get - the more chicken sh!t I become) but I just couldn't change the channel. I would rather have all my teeth pulled instead of having to watch that movie ever again.
