Don't get indoctrinated by Farenheit 9/11

In his own words Michael Moore has said Farenheit 9/11 is just his opinion so whether its right or wrong, factually correct or inaccurate its just how he sees everything

Don't fall in the trap of believing Moore's opinions are the end all truths

Don't be indoctrinated after you watch it. Make up you own minds

Oh for God's sake, let it go. Or at least post in one of the 87 existing "Michael Moore is the devil and George Bush is the next best thing to Jesus" threads.

I would like to see Michael Moore film a doccumentary about the No Child Left Behind Act and tax cuts that have forced many public schools to let teachers go. As the No Child Left Behind Act is a beautiful thought, but without money you really let the students (children) behind as the amount of school material is cut down. Less teachers and less material = Improving schools, I wonder where this came from. There it is said...

Thank's for the heads up

Since I have been living under a rock and have no idea what Michael Moore is talking about I will strongly consider your warning. Do you think that I should avoid seeing the film as well?

I think that Groucho's and pro-bassoonist's posts were somehow switched.

How about we change the title of this thread to read: "Fahrenheit 9/11: Go See It (If You Want To) And Make Up Your Own Mind"

The movie seems to be doing extremely good business already. Glad to hear it.

REally? Moore has an opinion that I happen to share, and most people who will see the movie share as well. I don't think there is a single person going to this flick thinking it is the truth as much as a carthasis for how they feel.

I think this forum is the wrong place for this type of message as I find most of the posters here are well-educated. What I recommend you do IMRICKJAMES, is go out to your local movie theatre with a megaphone and stand in front of the theatre shouting the same thing. Maybe then you will be able to change peoples' minds or whatever it is you hope to accomplish.

Why not point out what you think in inaccurate?

I loved the movie.

I'm sorry Mr. James, but since you smoked crack and tortured a woman that one time I can't really value your opinion that much.

How about the "Vacation Time" Bush took after he became President.

1. He is never on vacation from being President, it is with him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He has Air Force One and all of it's meeting rooms/communication with him whenever he travels. He has a staff with him at all times. Congress can get in touch with him anytime they want. He is still the President even when he is on "Vacation".

2. Average American's vacation time per year:
Weekends - 104 days per year
Vacation days from work - 10 (I can take up to 6 weeks vacation at my job, been there 10 years.)
Legal days off - 7 (2 for Christmas, 2 for Thanksgiving, Labor, Memorial Day, Fourth of July)
"Not counting any sick days"

Total days off per year - 121 days

Now, if I work 11 hours a day, that mean that I did not work 13 hours the rest of the day. So, of the 50 weeks I worked, that means I was not working (on Vacation) 3250 hours a year. Those 3250 hours work out to be 135.41 days.

135.41 days of not working during the week (from the 3250 hours) + the 121 days off during the week = 256.41 days of not working the whole year.

256.41 days is 58.90% of 365 days

What this means is the average American is on "Vacation from work" about 58.90% a year and the average American does not have to take his work with him (well, sometimes I do) - even on the golf course.

If Moore looked at how much "work time" Bush put in during his "Vacation", he would see that Bush had very little time to vacation.

Above are the facts, this is not my feelings.

All I am saying is MM should just use the facts and not abuse them. I love our freedom to speak what is on our hearts, but let's not twist the facts.

Point #2

http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/m...mx-movies_heds

Moore also may be criticized for the way he portrays the evacuation of the extended bin Laden family from the U.S. after Sept. 11. As the Sept. 11 commission has found, the Saudi government was able to pull strings at senior levels of the Bush administration to help the bin Ladens leave the U.S. But while the film clearly suggests that the flights occurred at a time when all air traffic was grounded immediately after the attacks ("Even Ricky Martin couldn't fly," Moore says over video of the singer wandering in an airport lobby), the Sept. 11 commission said in a report this April that there was "no credible evidence that any chartered flights of Saudi Arabian nationals departed the United States before the reopening of national airspace" and that the FBI had concluded that no one aboard the flights was involved in Sept. 11.

In conversation, Moore defended the scene, saying his goal was to show how the White House was eager to bend and break the rules for Saudi friends -- in this case, the extended family of the terrorist who had just brought down the twin towers and attacked the Pentagon. And as reporters have found, the White House still refuses to document fully how the flights were arranged.

The Bin Laden family had turned their backs on their wacked relative decades before Sept 11th. And Bush did not give the OK for the "Charter Flight", it was someone else in the Goverment (sorry, but I lost his name - I could find it if someone wants his name).

Once again, I love when just the facts are used, not facts twisted just prove someones point of view. We have a great country that allows us freedom of speech, both the left and right need to use it - it keeps our country somewhat balanced. But, let's not lie to prove our point.

You better not fall into I, Robot's trap... it could set back the robotics industry for years

Anyways, you guys don't have to bite my head off. I'm just saying don't mix up opinion with fact. No matter how you feel about Moore, love him or hate him, you have to admit there are a lot of people out there that think just cause is a documentary everything in it is the truth, or ardent Moore lovers who believe in what he believes so much they see it not as a beliefs or opinions but as truth
