I forwarded this to a female friend of mine who loves Farrell and she reminded me that he said just the opposite on "The Daily Show". I believe his exact words were he had the "Irish curse". Whatever that is. Anyway, here's the story:

It's Ferrell.

For some reason, male frontal nooditity is too distracting for the audience. When I saw Wild Things in the theater, the crowd I was with couldn't stop buzzing after Kevin Bacon's crooked wiener made its debut. And although I did not see 28 Days Later until the DVD, from what I read on this forum it was much of the same thing, the audience reacted loudly for several minutes afterward.

Only in America. Can you imagine if they saw "Betty Blue"?

Re: "Wild Things", if you blinked, you would have missed Bacon's sausage. Not only that, but wasn't he getting out of the shower and kind of far away? And wasn't the room was full of steam? Big deal. And who cares?

Day..you are correct on the Wild Things scene. I laughed at how pathetically tame and not so 'revealing' it actually was. I guess it just shows how sheltered we are in America when it comes to nudity,despite what the 'moral' police cries out over all the teasing in the media.

Maybe one day we will get over our puritantial fear of the human body? I mean,it is shocking to see how much more graphic violence has gotten in R rated films as 'acceptable',when a fleeting glimpse of nudity gets slammed with an NC-17 instantly.

I say..if you are going to show nudity in a film,then be realistic and show both persons nude..rather than showing off of one,then 'convieniantly' not showing any of the other.

Pathetic. Many European films contain a healthy amount of full frontal male nudity. I saw the trailer for the film. Frankly, I think it's a case of the studio trying to sell the film as a mainstream film rather than the art film it obviously is.

Let's hope the DVD is presented in all it's "uncut" glory

Well, to be fair, this was no "glimpse". Nor was it "a" penis. They showed A LOT of male frontal nudity in "The Dreamers". And one scene in particular was right up in his business (literally), lasting more than a few seconds. For what it's worth, I thought the movie was terrible. It tried to be daring and provocative. And for me it was just gratuitous and boring.

Yeah I saw Dreamers and that was not what I'd call a glimpse. This was non-stop nudity for 2 hours. There were several scenes of male genitalia in the film.

28 Days Later

There's an american myth that Irish people are supposed to have small penises. I honestly don't know how that one got started.
