Fantastic Four (2005)
The new issue of Cinescape listed Peyton Reed as the tentative director of the Fantastic Four movie. Chris Colombus is also co-writing the screenplay.
A quick search of the IMDB lists this as his film and television directing credits....
(2000s) (1990s) (1980s)
Film
Fantastic Four (2004)
Down with Love (2003)
"Grosse Pointe" (2000) TV Series(episode 1.6 "Mommy Dearest (10/27/2000)")
Bring It On (2000)
Television
"Upright Citizens Brigade" (1998) TV Series(1999)
Love Bug, The (1997) (TV)
"Weird Al Show, The" (1997) TV Series
"High Life, The" (1996) TV Series
"Mr. Show" (1995) TV Series(1998)
... aka "Mr. Show with Bob and David" (1995)
Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, The (1995) (TV)
Through the Eyes of Forrest Gump (1994) (TV)
"Back to the Future" (1991) TV Series
... aka "Back to the Future: The Animated Series" (1991)
Secrets of the Back to the Future Trilogy, The (1990) (TV)
Almost Beat (1989)
Now the fanboy in me want to scream "travesty" but in all honesty I have no idea who this guy is. I just think that it's an awfully big risk to put this film in the hands of a guy who's biggest screen credit is "Bring It On". Then again the same could have been said of Bryan Singer when he was tapped to direct X-Men.

Yeah, the Secrets of the Back to the Future Trilogy transcends simple TV making-of fluff. Those 22 minutes are hard-hitting substance, and you can tell from the opening Delorean arriving in the West sequence that Reed has the skills needed to bring a comic book to life. I bet he even casted the actors to do the voice-over for the letters Kirk read. I'm sure he'll direct a great film.

if Mark Steven Johnson can direct Daredevil... Peyton Reed can direct Fantastic Four.

Hey, Peyton Reed made "Bring It On," the greatest cheerleader movie OF ALL TIME.
Any guy who can get Eliza Dushku and Kirsten Dunst to spend weeks dressed as cheerleaders deserves any damned movie he wants.

There is such a thing as taking a chance in Hollywood.
Bryan Singer was a chance for X-Men.
Sam Raimi was a chance for Spider-Man.
Steven Mark Johnson is a chance for Daredevil.
There's one thing a name doesn't take into account...passion for sunject matter. If you have that you'll work harder and make sure your product is top notch.

Disagree with you here. Both of these men had proven to be solid filmmakers, particularly Sam Raimi who not only had established himself as a passionate and talented director but had significant experience in the genre.

And the director of "Fantastic Four" is...
...Some guy I've never heard of, at least according to this bit over at Dark Horizons:

Even though he's been locked in for a few weeks, it finallly broke over at Latino Review that 20th Century Fox and Marvel are going with "Barbershop" & "Taxi" director Tim Story to helm the superhero movie based on the comic "The Fantastic Four".
The choice has admittedly raised a few eyebrows, mostly over the fact that a director so notable for lower-budget comedy has been picked to take on the mega-FX filled project which is seen as Fox's tentpole pic next Summer (short of "Star Wars" of course.
Filming begins in August, whilst TV's The Shield star Michael Chiklis is apparently up for the role of Benjamin Grimm (The Thing) and Tim Robbins is being eyed to play Dr. Doom.
Also, scribe Michael France talked about the state of his most recent draft of the script recently to Screenwriter's Voice.

Whether it's true or not, who knows? I can't say I am really imagining a comic like FF could translate well to the screen, though... Mr. Fantastic's powers may look cool in a comic but they'd look absurd in a movie (as Roger Corman's fiasco showed, admittedly on the cheap), and how dramatic is the Invisible Woman turning invisible going to look?
Anyway, we'll see...

Barbershop was a well-rounded film. And, from the trailers, Taxi looks like an excellent action film. I'm up for seeing Michael Chiklis in an action-comic film.
Sounds like it's getting off to a good start.

Chiklis is a little on the small side to be Ben Grimm tho he definitely has the attitude.

I assume he'll just play the human Ben Grimm, and they'll CGI the Thing.

Ben Grimm is listed at 6'. Chiklis is 5' 9".

Seann William Scott as FireGuy (I don't remember his name)
Greg Kinear as Mr Fantastic

And...about the director...I'll...wwait and see. Who knows, he might work. I'm just glad they didn't go with Sean Astin. I know he was lobbying for it, and it would've been a terrible idea to hand a movie like this to someone who, by all means, has no resume, no experience, and nothing to show he's capable.
Hopefully this is good...always up for a good comic book movie.

People this is Hollywood. They make Stallone look tall, and he's practically an Oompah Loompah. Plus we're talking about the frickin' Thing; he's orange brick. They don't need to get the height, just the brawn....
