The biggest legend I've ever seen perform live. I was surprised he was only 73. I thought he was about that age when I was a kid

They played a clip of "Can't Stop Loving You" on NPR and I said to myself, "He better not have died." Sure enough 5 seconds later the chick says he's dead. I was crushed.

If it's not inapropriate I'll tell the story of the time I took a piss next to Ray Charles in a public bathroom.

What horrible news. Ray was a fantastic artist and his America the Beautiful can give me chills. Time to break out all my Ray Charles remasters.

R.I.P. Ray! I saw the man live two years ago - I'm still moved by the fact that such a legendary performer had the courtesy to come to the relatively small town of Oulu, Finland, of all places. But he was most welcome... as I'm sure he was just about anywhere else. I'll miss him.

Listening to "What'd I Say" right now... one of my favorite Charles tunes. Boy, he was good.

I just hope that finally some of his 70's output will finally make it to CD. "Renaissance" is a great, great album.

Just finished burning a 3-disc compilation from the eleven-or-so Brother Ray CD's I've got on my shelf... just to listen to in the car. (We all grieve in our own way.)

I'd swear I felt a tear swelling up while listening to "That Lucky Old Sun."

I count myself lucky though. I managed to see him live a total of seven times.
