I have to applaud Annie Hall at number six. That's a great choice.

I think the better question is where is Gandalf?

Looking over this list, a few things surprised me.

First, Gordon Gekko from Wall Street is amazingly high up there. It's a good role, but I'd say it's a better performance than a character. I'm surprised he made the list at all.

Secondly, Frank Booth and Hannibal Lecter are both far too low. Lecter should be in the top 5. Frank Booth in the top 20 or at least the top 30.

Speaking of Frank Booth, I watched Blue Velvet for the first time this past week and felt Hopper should have had more screen time. That was a great character for him that didn't seem utilized enough. Didn't know anything about the guy except he was a raving psycho, or what his original reasons were for his actions. Though, I guess one can draw their own conclusion.

Not surprising at all - I keep noticing references to him in business articles and broadcast commentaries. Gordon Gekko has very much become the icon and point of reference for a certain business philosophy and persona.

84. Darth Vader
BOOOOOO! This list sucks! Any list that has Dr. Evil above Darth Vader is a shitty list! And why must the Godfather always be #1...christ I'm tired of hearing about the Godfather...its good but is it the best movie ever made? Hell no!

These lists are always so meaningless because they come from magazines run by 20-somethings with no sense of history. The fact that they chose Vito instead of Michael as number one prooves that they have no idea what The Godfather movies were all about.

Not to mention, no Buford T Justice of Texas?

How the s**t can Gollum be #10...the movie character is only a year and a half old...that is so not right when Vader is back at 84!
