I can't believe that Gladiator is currently beating Blade Runner AND Alien.

Blade Runner, with Alien just a hair behind (was surprised that Alien has gotten 0 votes).

I think that Blade Runner is sucking up all of Alien's votes because, as you said, it's just a hair better.

Scott + Douglas + Neon Lights + Ken Takakura = Unappreciated Greatness.

I love Black Hawk Down, Hannibal, and Matchstick Men though. Alien is entertaining. Blade Runner is pretentious and boring.

Alien. It's as close to perfect in its execution as any film I've ever seen. I don't think it could be improved upon in any way. Blade Runner is excellent, but I think it's got some pretty serious flaws. To me, none of his other films come close to that pair.

Gladiator. I only saw Alien for the first time recently and didn't think it was anything special. I've only seen the director's cut of Blade Runner and thought it was incredibly boring despite the nice visuals.

Blade Runner all the way. Alien a close second, right alongside Black Hawk Down. After that, Thelma and Louise, Matchistick Men, and Gladiator a little behind that. 1492, Duellists, and Legend are my least favorite of Scott's work. Gladiator has got some kick ass action to make up for its other serious dramatic and plot flaws, so I put that higher than the last three.

Here's how I'd rank them from best to worst...

Gladiator (2000)
Alien (1979)
Legend (1985)
Black Hawk Down (2001)
Blade Runner (1982)
Thelma & Louise (1991)
Matchstick Men (2003)
Black Rain (1989)
G.I. Jane (1997)
Someone to Watch Over Me (1987)
White Squall (1996)
Hannibal (2001)

Didn't See...

The Deullists (1977)
1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992)

Black Hawk Down is probably my favorite but Blade Runner and Alien were much more original.

Scott is probably my favorite director on his own merit, so this is a toug decision. While I love his work, I still think that G.I. Jane and 1492 are two of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I gave it to Black Hawk Down, but had Gladiator as a close second.

But, man, look at that list . . . talk about a career . . . whew!

Alien and Blade Runner were such meaningful flicks to the Sci-Fi genre. It's hard to pick between those two.

Black Hawk Down was his best flick in the past 10 years.

I'd have to go with Alien, simply because it was came before Blade Runner.

Alien is one of my favorite movies of all time. No other movie had transfixed me in the theater. The movie totally had me.

Moment when I realized how much the movie sucked me in? When it was over, I noticed I had bought a large soda.... and I never touched it.

For me, Blade Runner has the best sense of atmosphere of any film I've seen. I mean, each time I see it, I want to live in that world. You know? And I absolutely adore the soundtrack by Vangelis. Pure beauty!!!!!!!
