What do you reckon ?

If Die Hard 4 was made and it was the usual fun exciting action packed Hollywood movie and it Arabic Terrorists as the bad guys, would it do really well ? or sink badly with everyone thinking it was in bad taste ?

It wouldn't sink because it is a Die Hard movie. It has too big of a fan base not to suceed but there is no way they would make the bad guys arabs. Not in a million years.

It would never get off the ground with the PC police enforcing. I would sure as hell see it if it did.

I am sure it would make a profit, I mean come on a Bruce Willis action movie... that's money in the bank, if anything a PC controversy would just further promote this movie, and make more money for it

I would actually say 95% of America would be MORE likely to see it if it had Arab terrorists. But the Arab groups would complain and possibly sway the studios against it.

There have been plenty of movies with Arab terrorists before. Are people only saying this one would fail because its post-9/11?

I wish America would grow back it's spine and get rid of all these PC pansies. They should relize that people know that it is a movie and not real life. I don't remember any anti-arab talk after TRUE LIES came out. Maybe because people know that it was all make-believe.

So who the hell is any action movie villian going to be if studio's quiver under their desks that someone out there will be offended? It can't be Arabs (even though any terrorist group shown on the news seems to be Arabic). It only falls to having Nazis as the bad guys. They are still considered evil right?? I'm sure it is only time before some German will complain how showing Nazis make Germans look bad so then Nazi's will be off limits. From then on, only CGI alien robots can be bad guys.

Maybe when the eventually make a movie about 9/11, Nazis will hijack the planes because we don't want to offend any Arabs.

I don't believe the majority of Americans care one way or another. They do realize it's just a movie and not to be taken seriously.

This PC police rubbish reminds me of a quote from Se7en:

If they ever come out with True Lies SE then it stands a prayer of a chance.

I don't really know if it would work simply because the Die Hard movies aren't really about terrorists. The villians in the Die Hards would probably be better described as mercenaries who all happen to use terrorist tactics.

If Die Hard 4 went after the arab terroroist angle, it would end up getting too political and lose a lot of the fun. It would sink in that case.

Could someone fill me in on why it will tank if it has Arab Terrorists?

People might think it's in bad taste or insensitive to Arabs as a culture/race/whatever word you wish to use. It could be seen as cliche or trying to cash in on 9-11.

However, I think that despite the above reasons, it would clean up at the box office with Arab terrorists.

Arab terrorists and Neo-Nazi's were/are the main bad guys in 90% of these type of action flicks. People would only care if it WAS insensitive. As The Passion of the Christ has shown...the PC media crazy people really underestimate the public response to topics that could be contraversial, but the content actually isn't.
