I read somewhere there were some strange events during the productions of The Shining and the Omen, but I don't have the slightest memery of what they were.

MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE

From the IMDB:

"Three stars of the film committed suicide shortly after shooting was completed: John Reynolds (Torgo), Joyce Molleur (teenager in car), and Diane Mahree (Margaret)."

Not technically "cursed" but very possibly due to the The Conqueror being filmed near nuclear testing grounds in the mid 1950's, alot of the cast and crew later died of cancer, including John Wayne and director Dick Powell. Coincidence? Hmmmmm. They even brought back alot of nuclear fallout contaminated dirt from the location shooting to match the later filmed studio shots. Ouch.

The Exorcist

From IMDB:

There are tales about ominous events surrounding the year-long shoot, including the deaths of nine people associated with the production and stories about a mysterious fire that destroyed the set one weekend.

Director Friedkin eventually asked technical advisor Rev. Thomas Bermingham to exorcise the set. He refused, saying an exorcism might increase anxiety. Rev. Bermingham wound up visiting the set and gave a blessing and talk to reassure the cast and crew.

Nearly everybody, cast and crew alike, is dead. There might be a munchkin or two still alive.

Cursed properties include Don Quixote, famously documented in Lost in La Mancha and Orson Welles obsession for the 2nd half of his life. Neither film got made despite the best intentions.

Along these lines, Attuk the Eskimo, committed to by Belushi and Sam Kinison at the time of their deaths, and rumored to be under consideration by Farley at the time of his death.

Wasn't there another comedy that Belushi and then later Farley were considering? I thought it finally got made.

The Lees had a curse. Both died rather mysteriously. And it was made into Dragon later on.

From IMDB for the Crow:

'Lee, Brandon' died during a mishap on the set. A scene required a gun to be loaded, cocked, and then pointed at the camera. Because of the close-range of the shot, the bullets loaded had real brass caps, but no powder. After the cut, the propsmaster (not the armsmaster - he had left the set for the day) dry-fired the gun to get the cock off, knocking an empty cartridge into the barrel of the gun. The next scene to be filmed involving that gun was the rape of Shelly. The gun was loaded with blanks (which usually contain double or triple the powder of a normal bullet to make a loud noise). Lee entered the set carrying a bag of groceries containing an explosive blood pack. The script called for Funboy (Michael Massee) to shoot Eric Draven (Lee) as he entered the room, triggering the blood pack. The cartridge that was stuck in the barrel was blasted at Lee through the bag he was carrying, killing him. The footage of his death was destroyed without being developed. Lee is the son of martial arts legend 'Lee, Bruce' , who died in mysterious circumstances before completing Game of Death (1978). See also Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993).

Game of Death:

The official cause of Lee's death was a brain edema, but many people believe there is more to the story than this. One persistent rumour is that he was killed by kung fu masters for revealing too many of their secrets. In the film, Lee's character fakes his own death; the shots of his funeral include real shots of Lee's coffin.

Interesting thread. The Poltergeist stories were definately freaky.

From IMDB:

Heather O'Rourke, who played the little girl Carol-Anne, and Dominique Dunne, who played the teenage daughter, are buried in the same cemetery: Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles. Dunne was strangled into brain-death by her boyfriend in 1982, the year of the film's release. Six years later, O'Rourke died of intestinal stenosis.

During the scene where Robbie (Oliver Robbins) is being strangled, the clown's arms became extremely tight and Robbins started to choke. When he screamed out "I can't breathe!", Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper thought that the boy was ad-libbing and just instructed him to look at the camera. When Spielberg saw Robbins' face turning purple, he ran over and removed the clown's arms from Robbins' neck.

For the Sequel:

There is a supposed "Poltergeist Curse" surrounding the three films in the series. Actress Dominique Dunne was murdered by her boyfriend after filming the first film. Actor Julian Beck died of stomach cancer after filming the second film. Actress Heather O'Rourke died of a mystery case of intestinal stenosis shortly before completion of the third film. Also, many cast members' careers have suffered after appearing in the films.

How about Rebel Without a Cause ?

James Dean: died in a car crash (I believe before the movie even came out)
Natalie Wood: drowned in 1981
Sal Mineo: murdered sometime in the mid-1970's

Feel free to correct me if I have any of the details wrong

Don't forget Kirk Allen. He was only 88 when he died of so-called "natural causes."

Also John Frankenheimer died a month after he stepped down from directing Exorcist: Beginning.

Exorcist: Beginning was also cursed in that the whole movie was basically reshot with new cast members along with a new director (Renny Harlin) taking over from Paul Schraeder. "Cursed" , Wes Craven's werewolf flick was also "cursed" in that the production shut down and they recast the whole movie and reshot it again from scratch after almost all of the movie was done.

Whom did they recast and why did it get shut down?

For which film? Exorcist was deemed all talk by the studio and the Director booted out of the editing room and Harlin was bought in to add head spinning and some more action, I read all they kept from what was previously shot were exteriors. The report on Cursed was that it just wasnt working, they did have to recast the leads , therefore dropping alot of B movie star cameos and they switched FX teams mid movie also. Im sure some reports are up somewhere in more detail.
