Any news on Dragnet 1967 coming to DVD?

I was a huge fan of Dragnet 1967 when I was growing up, this was to the 60s, what COPS is today. While it might be somewhat dated, the spirit of the show made this one a classic. No one will ever be a better Joe Friday than Jack Webb. Does anyone know if this show will be getting the DVD treatment anytime soon?

There are some public domain discs of this, with at least one disc each from Music Video Distributors and Alpha Video, and a 2-disc set from Madacy.

I have several Alpha Video discs, and have enjoyed the films. The presentations weren't great, but were fair, considering the source materials.

Madacy, on the other hand, has earned the reputation as THE worst DVD company, at least on this forum.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all of the currently available Jack Webb Dragnet DVDs are from the 50s run of the show (black and white). (I own several of the DVDs which littlefuzzy mentioned).

I, too, would like to see the 60s series on DVD. I believe that Universal owns the rights. (They used to show reruns of the 60s show on "Nick At Nite.")

i think only the B/W episodes are out, very inexpensive too. 20 episodes for less than 10 bucks. pretty bad quality but i still enjoy them.

i heard the 60s seasons were gonna come out at one point, then that news disappeared and nothing happened. (no, im not thinking of the new dragnet on ABC)

The 1960's Dragnet was indeed once "semi-announced". It was about a year ago when Universal said Dragnet, Rockford, Emergency, and several other shows were on their way.

Everything came to a grinding halt when Universal experienced ownership changes. I haven't heard a word since. I believe some calls these shows the "Lost 7".

There are probably existing threads on this from last year.

I am a fan of the 60's Dragnet by the way. Very good entertainment. High on the camp factor nowadays, but it was actually a well produced show.

I want the last year or so when Jack Webb totally lost his mind and did all those weird, anti drug episodes.

Yes!! I still have one quote stuck in mind from seeing the show on Nick at Nite a few years back:

Stoned Hippie: "Man, I just want to float...and float, and float...."

Joe Friday (nodding): "You will. Right to Central Jail."
