He's ingenious, he's phobic, he's obsessive-compulsive. Monk's hilarious, offbeat antics have made him unfit for duty, but he's back as a police consultant to help out on their most baffling cases. The brilliant but neurotic Monk (Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Tony Shalhoub) is now fighting crime as well as his abnormal fears of germs, cars, heights, crowds and virtually everything else known to man in "the best detective show to come along in decades." (NY Post) Now you can enjoy the entire first season of Monk on DVD.

That's funny. I'm not sure if it is a joke but it is funny. If it isn't a joke, I think they should have included a small pack of wipes instead.

Hmm...
I've found some very interesting developments regarding the "premiere" or "pilot" episdoe.
As has been mentioned by brewc, the pilot is already out, and if you go to amazon, it is "available". Guess i'm not sure why a highly reputable dvd info site would have the following comment:
"Coming on June 24 will be Monk: Premier Episode. There don't appear to be any extras with this disc, and like the season set, it comes with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen video and Dolby surround audio. "
I'm guessing the quote is wrong then...picking up the pilot at amazon now.

c293716,
I think that June 24th date is June 24th, 2003. That is when the Monk Pilot/Premeire DVD came out. As a previous poster mentioned it was probably a test run to see if there was an audience for this TV show.
As the original poster stated, this release is the ENTIRE first season that is coming out on June 15th, 2004. That includes the pilot from the 2003 DVD release. So, not really certain why you are buying the pilot when the season set is coming out soon.
