Monk - Finally! Season 1 - Specs, Art, Extras, & Details!
He's ingenious, he's phobic, he's obsessive-compulsive. Monk's hilarious, offbeat antics have made him unfit for duty, but he's back as a police consultant to help out on their most baffling cases. The brilliant but neurotic Monk (Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Tony Shalhoub) is now fighting crime as well as his abnormal fears of germs, cars, heights, crowds and virtually everything else known to man in "the best detective show to come along in decades." (NY Post) Now you can enjoy the entire first season of Monk on DVD.

June 15th will see the long-awaited release of Monk - Season 1 on DVD, which is welcome news for fans who fumed that an earlier release date "announced" at the Monk homepage was missed, with no explanation.

But it seems like the wait will be worth it!
Besides the entire first season, clocking in at 9 hours and 23 minutes of entertainment:
01. Mr. Monk and the Candidate (1)
02. Mr. Monk and the Candidate (2)
03. Mr. Monk and the Psychic
04. Mr. Monk Meets Dale the Whale
05. Mr. Monk Goes to the Carnival
06. Mr. Monk Goes to the Asylum
07. Mr. Monk and the Billionaire Mugger
08. Mr. Monk and the Other Woman
09. Mr. Monk and the Marathon Man
10. Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation
11. Mr. Monk and the Earthquake
12. Mr. Monk and the Red-Headed Stranger
13. Mr. Monk and the Airplane

Universal Home Video is also providing these great supplements:
Mr. Monk and His:
1) Origins
2) O.C.D.
3) Fellow Sufferers
4) Emmy Award Winning Performance
5) Partners in Crime

Includes Special Anti-Bacterial
Hand Gel (Limited Time Only)
And you get all of this in a 4-DVD set for just $59.98 list price. Specs line up as follows: Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1), English Dolby Surround, French Dolby Surround, Spanish Dolby Surround, English Captions, French Subtitles, and Spanish Subtitles. Finally, click here for a look at the cover art and a couple of menu screens.

Special Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel (Limited Time Only)

That's funny. I'm not sure if it is a joke but it is funny. If it isn't a joke, I think they should have included a small pack of wipes instead.

Cool. Long overdue! It'll be an expensive day for me - Nero Wolfe Season 2 comes out 6/15 as well...

When I was working at BestBuy, I thought I saw Monk Season 1 on the shelf. When I went to buy it about 3 weeks later, it was gone.

I am I just Parinoled or what?

Why though is the pilot episode being released standalone with a MSRP of $19.98???

The pilot is already out and for about $14 can be had at local retailer's unless it's not being stocked anymore.

They released the pilot probably as a test run to see if they'd be a demand for the show. Just like they did with Friends and Married With Children.

Hmm...

I've found some very interesting developments regarding the "premiere" or "pilot" episdoe.

As has been mentioned by brewc, the pilot is already out, and if you go to amazon, it is "available". Guess i'm not sure why a highly reputable dvd info site would have the following comment:

"Coming on June 24 will be Monk: Premier Episode. There don't appear to be any extras with this disc, and like the season set, it comes with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen video and Dolby surround audio. "

I'm guessing the quote is wrong then...picking up the pilot at amazon now.

c293716,

I think that June 24th date is June 24th, 2003. That is when the Monk Pilot/Premeire DVD came out. As a previous poster mentioned it was probably a test run to see if there was an audience for this TV show.

As the original poster stated, this release is the ENTIRE first season that is coming out on June 15th, 2004. That includes the pilot from the 2003 DVD release. So, not really certain why you are buying the pilot when the season set is coming out soon.

That's right it does include the pilot, guess that was a typo.

I see up for preorder for $39 now so looks definite. As for blind buy I would maybe try to catch an episode first somewhere but is a good show for the most part.
