Fox's One Million Years BC DVD --- NOT THE LONGER CUT!!!!!!!!!!!
see www.dvddrive-in.com for more details.
This is a huge slap in the face to Hammer fans, Harryhausen fans and Raquel Welch fans.
I have cancelled my order.

The UK DVD also contains 20 minutes of interviews with Raquel Welch & Ray Harryhausen.

My R2 of this arrived literally two days before the announcement of this R1 release, and I was thinking that I should have been more patient ...... there's no reason for this type of nonsense from a major studio.

You have got to be kidding. This bothers you that much? I cannot believe how spoiled collectors have become. This is an insult to no one. It is a business decision. Most people have never heard of this film. I am just glad that it is available on DVD.

You're kidding, right?
I'd rather have the R2 unrestored full version than the restored cut version. I was holding off on buying the R2 because of this release. What a screwup!

The stupid thing about this particular situation is that Fox had already released the uncut version on laserdisc and that version has also been screened quite a few times on TCM and elsewhere. To release the cut version on DVD now is just plain pointless. You may be "glad it's available on DVD", but any serious fan of the film or cinema purist would surely opt for the uncut R2 version or just make their own DVD-R off the uncut laserdisc. Why pay Fox for a butcher job? For the pretty artwork? Whatever floats your boat.

For those who ARE upset about this screw-up, it may be worth a minute to send Fox your thoughts even though they will probably just delete them instantly. I'm not sure if this e-mail is still valid, but it seems to still be in operation. [email protected]

Guys, didja ever stop to think Fox may not have the rights to the full cut? I don't know whether they do or not, but I've seen a few times where only the U.S. print was available due to home distribution rights being limited to the original U.S. theatrical release print.

9 minutes missing. This really sucks big time. That's a lot of footage, especially when it's some of Rays work.
I was going to pick it up but now I'm giving it second thoughts.

Is it really 9 minutes missing, or is it 9 minutes that weren't ever intended to be there that were added for Europe? I don't know, I'm just asking.

But this may not be the case at all, and it may have nothing to do whatsoever with distribution rights. It may be in fact a matter of Fox just being mean. I was just questioning the reason for the excision before I came to a conclusion.
But, hey screw it...
SCREW YOU FOX!!! YOU SUUUUUCCCKKK!!!

Better?
