Anyone have this new box of BG ? It looks kinda cheesy looking so want to know if its better than the big head box.

It seems like everything else is the same, but this new packaging costs $107 whereas the old one is now 89 !!!

Am trying to decide whether its worth paying the extra to get a normal looking box!!

Wow....that does look pretty bad!!! And people were complaining about the original box? I would much rather have the one that I have now. You can always store the box away somewhere if room is a factor on your shelf.

I've seen it in person many times. I really disfavor it to the Cylong packaging, which is a really cool display piece. It has a reflective strip for the eyes (red).

What do you mean better? You do realize that there is a box inside the Cylon head that fits on your shelf (granted it has nothing on the spine).

The new box i great for those of us who don't like oversized packaging which does not fit on shelves. It looks just as good as the oversized packaging. It has the same cylon head represented, only on a smaller scale.

You do realize that there is a shelf-ready packaging INSIDE the head, correct?

the new slipcover is way uglier than the original cylong helmet packaging. the lenticular strip used for the eyes on the re-release looks particularly tacky.

I thought the price would go down without the fancy packaging. I was wrong...

I'm still on the fence on whether to buy this or not. I loved this show when I was a kid, but don't know if it's worth shelling out so much money for.

This week Universal announced that on Feb. 10th they are re-releasing the DVD set with different packaging, which will not include the very striking (and rather large) outer box that was designed to look like the enemy of the Colonial Warriors in the show. The SRP of the new version will reportedly stay the same ($119.98).

Either way, I am looking for a cheap used on and cannot find it anywhere. The cheapest I find it on half.com and it is still around $80.00

When you combine the fact that the original box does have a box that will fit in nicely with any dvd collection I'm glad I decided to go with the original set now.

Looks like I made the right move price-wise as well. I used the DDD coupon and got it from them for $69.10 shipped.

I'd even bet that the original Cylon head packaging becomes somewhat of a collectors item. Not that it will ever be in high demand; but, it's always nice to know you have something that is unique.

Although I got mine from a Forum member, I could have done better on eBay. There are plenty of sealed new copies for $60-$70 shipped.

If you already have the cylon head package and you want the new slipcover then you can call universal and they'll send you one for free. That's what I did.

Yes a number would be great! When I saw the new box this past weekend, before seeing this thread, I said to my fiancee that I wanted to call. I have the big head displayed, but it would be nice to put the box set with my others...

I'd be intrested in the number too - but more to see about getting a replacement for a bad Galactica disc.

Well, that and the box too. . . .

It has no slipcase and would not be as stable.

i called up the 1-888-703-0010 number, but everyone there seem to be only taking info for the BTTF exchange program. the first rep had NO other number to give me on such an inquiry. called again, and the second rep suggested that i send mail to "universalstudios&[email protected]", which i did. if anyone has a working phone number, that'd be great.

Let's see, spend about $10 to ship the thing just to get the slipcover? You could buy an alpha and print out a much better cover for half that.
