Who is the LAMEST leading character you've ever seen?

Since we had a thread about those who are cool, I thought we should have one about those that are not.

My picks:

Anakin Skywalker-Attack of the Clones

Captain Terl, or any other character in Battlefield:Earth

Joan of Arc-The Messenger

Sean Connerys bad ass secret service agent in The Rock (can't remember his name).

so, let's say you were spying in eastern Europe and you uncovered evidence of a massive consipiracy by that gov't to asassinate it's own leaders and because of this they imprisioned you for 20 yrs already cutting you off from your family and everyone you loved, with no sign that they would ever let you out.
would you be inclined to help them take down someone who was trying to hold them accountable for screwing other good men over?
and would you have much sympathy for the 'innocent civilians' when they are latte swilling sheep that keep these guys in power and have little interest in holding these guys accountable either?
please.

runner up would be Rambo.
as my 10th grade English teacher said
"so this guy has the skills to create all this mayhem, he can patch himself up with minimal supplies if he gets wounded, and on and on- and yet he's whinning because he can't find a job? what a loser.

He saw it as a chance to get out of prison. Plain and simple.

Casper Van Dien in Starship Troopers.

He sounds like a pre-pubescent teenager when he echoes Michael Ironside in the scene where he takes over command of the troopers.

My 3000th post!

Off the top of my head Peter Parker/Tobey McGuire in Spider-man. I know that is blasphemous around these boards but watching him was torture for me.

Sean Astin's character in Encino Man. I couldn't stand Astin for the longest time because of that role. It took Rudy and all three Lord Of The Rings movies to erase the bad taste that character left in my mouth. It's just not right that someone can be that much of a whiny, coniving, self-centered, ass and still get the hot girl in the end!

I'd add one caveat to mine, I tried to focus on characters that either one time were thought to be cool, or were legitmatetly played up in the movie to be cool and couldn't escape their lameness. We all know one level or the other, Pee Wee Herman is lame, but he's still a cool mofo to me. That said:

I'm in for Frodo Boggins. I was struck watching Return of the King how unlikeable he was. He's truly the most loathesome guy in the fellowship.

Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind. I know she's beloved, but to me, she never really progresses from bitch to somewhat mellower bitch. Unlikable, but maybe she was supposed to be?

Doctor Zhivago is REALLY lame to me. He starts off very cool too, and I saw great things, that just never materialized. Maybe he's too true to humanity, hence lame, but I had little sympathy for him.

Luke Skywalker is pretty whiny and punky in the first two Star Wars films.

I think the Dustin Hoffman character in The Graduate is amazing lame. I know part of his gimmick is his lack of suave, but even in his good moments, he's largely a dick.
Spoiler:
He doesn't get a job, he resents the advice of elders, he shuns a hot chick, only to date her and then break up her wedding with no real plan for the future

Johnny Tsunami's Dad in Disney's Johnny Tsunami...Man, was that guy a dick...moving all the way to Vermont or where ever just to get Johnny away from surfing. Major SQUARE, if i do say so myself. Oh, and what was up with him never taking Johnny's side when Johnny would get in fights. Totally lame of him.

He's pretty insufferable in that Kevin Bacon hiking movie.

But I think he was boss in "Like Father Like Son", one of my true guilty pleasures as Dudley and Kirk Cameron give seriously incredible performances in that one.
