No.

They're probably not in my top 100

My top 3 are:
2001
Vertigo
Goodfellas

No, but they're up there. There really is no 'BEST' anyway even for just one person IMO. You'll always think of something else better or something else that equals it.

The LoTR movies are, by far, the best films I have ever seen based on Tolkien's work. Now that's a FACT!

Great movies, but certainly nowhere near the "best" for me.

No, but the LOTR movies are one of the best movies to come out in the past 3 years.

in before the move to movie talk...

I'd have to say that they are among the best movies I've ever seen.

Let's go through the details:

1) Faithful to the source material for an adapted work. Check.

2) Talented cast. Check.

3) Well written screenplay. Check.

4) Creative set and costume design. Check.

5) Great score. Check.

6) Solid directing and good pacing. Check.

7) Doesn't fall apart at the end. Check.

8) Great visual effects/cinematography. Check.

9) Left the theater ready to see it again. Check.

It was a success at pretty much every level, unless you're a Tom Bombadil fan or really wanted to see Liv Tyler carving up orcs.

Oh please - best movie ever? Rings gets it's ass handed to it by:
* Citizen Kane
* Casablanca
* The Godfather
* Star Wars
* Raiders of the Lost Ark
* The Mark of Zorro
* The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
* Ernest Saves Christmas
and Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow

And that's just for starters. Although I do have to admit that the Rings movies were indeed better than Jaws: the Revenge - but only just.

No doubt! And that's pretty amazing too, since the competition is so rough.

Nope. It is a very entertaining trilogy though.

I've decided I have no best movie anymore... there are just too many different movies I like for different reasons so it's hard to judge/compare them all and say one is the best.
