Oasis lose another bandmember!!!!!!

Alan White(the drummer) who has been with the band since "(What's the Story) Morning Glory" has decided to leave, citing tendanitis problems. I use to be the biggest Oasis fan on the block back in 1995-1998. I was so convinced they would be as Big as U2(they would have been, had they had better additudes and not cancel show's all the time). I personally think Oasis should call it a day. They were great back in the early 90's, but Liam can't sing anymore to save his life(too many cigarettes, smoking weed, drinking alcohol, and singing with his larynx projected forward....which causes immense strain on the vocal chords), and while the songs are still good, Liam is doing less and less singing on each album, because he can't sustain the way he use to(I was very lucky enough to see them live in 1995, and WOW!!!!! incredible).
I really feel Oasis were the band that had it all, and just through it all away. If Liam had taken better care of his voice, if they didn't cancel more shows than they played in the states, if they had BETTER ADDITUDES, and if bandmemembers didn't seem to leve after every 2nd or 3rd album, this group would have been the biggest thing in the States right now.......They just through it all way. How SAD!!!!!!

Not to rain on the parade but it's not like the drummer of Oasis really contributed to writing the songs. Oasis is all about Noel Gallagher. As long as he still wants to do it, Oasis will go on.

I said once to a friend of mine about Oasis when the guitar player left "man I'd love to be in that band". And he says to me "Being in Oasis is kind of like jury duty. They replace so many guys that eventually everyone gets a chance".

I loved the first album and "What's the Story Morning Glory". Too bad they can't get their act together so to speak.

"Definitely Maybe" was the first album.

I agree. Noel and Liam are Oasis. As long as they're around, Oasis will continue. I'm a huge Oasis fan and can't wait until their new album comes out this summer. Muscially, they're better now than they ever were, with Gem and Andy Bell. I kind of disagree about Liam's voice. He can still sing great in the studio (just listen to his vocals on Death In Vegas's Scorpio Rising), but he does have to take better care of his voice when they tour.

Yeah Oasis pretty much is Noel Gallagher, and Liam a bit now (he wrote a couple of songs on the last album). Alan White was kind of still leftover from the wild Morning Glory days. Gem Archer and Andy Bell have a lot more professionalism, and the band seems tighter now. Liam's voice is getting kind of bad, but he manages to get it going for the albums at least.

They're still a pretty good band, and I don't think this changes things much.

I despise bands that put all of their hard work into their music just to piss it away by getting the 'big head' phenomenon. Yea, your music was decent but don't act like your the next Mick Jagger. After that I just tossed the CD into the garbage,

That may be, but White's drumming has always been pretty phenominal. Imagine "Cigarettes and Alcohol" without his work, or "Roll With It" for that matter. He drives both of those songs. Not that Oasis is on the level of the Led Zeppelin, but imagine Led Zep without Bonham: sure the guy didn't write many of the songs, but "When the Levee Breaks" wouldn't amount to much without Bonzo.

Also, we're not aware of how much White held the band together from a personality standpoint. Ringo was not the best drummer, but he sure mattered when it came to band chemistry. Some would argue he was the gregarious heart of the Beatles. (Once again, I'm not saying that Oasis is anywhere near the level of the Beatles). The same might be true of White.

The Andy Bell from Oasis is from Ride. I clicked on this thread hoping it was him that left and that there'd be a Ride reunion story attached to it.

I still love the story of Liam cutting out of the MTV special, getting trashed and heckeling Noel from the balcony seats.

All Oasis needs is Noel writing the tracks and Liam singing them.

This news is ancient, and wrong.

This is the press release from the official webpage
www.oasisinet.com

ALAN WHITE
16.01.2004
Alan White has been asked to leave Oasis by the other band members. There are no plans to replace Alan. The band's scheduled recording sessions remain unaffected.

Actually, Alan didn't drum on the first album. The original drummer, Tony McCarroll, was on "Definitely Maybe", and may have done some stuff on "Morning Glory" as well, I can't remember.

McCarroll was actually a terrible drummer, basically kicked out by Noel when the band got big and he figured they should get someone more professional.

Alan IMO was the only member of Oasis that was charismatic.

I said their first album AND "What's The Story Morning Glory". The title escaped me at that moment.
