Match 4: Die Hard or The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?

Die Hard beats Lethal Weapon. Die Hard is still the champion.

Die Hard or The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?

John or Blondie?

My wife says that the first movie about one man against an army is To Hell and Back, starring Audie Murphy. In it, Audie singlehandedly holds off an entire German regiment.

True story.

Seriously, it's not even close. Die Hard is a great action movie, one of the best, but TGTBTU is something so incredible, so epic, and so perfect.

Blondie is so much more of a badass than John, too.

I agree with both statements, but let's be fair, John isn't meant to be a badass. He's supposed to be a reluctant, down on his luck guy thrown into circumstances that force him to act. Blondie is a mercenary.

I'd actually take any of the Dollars trilogy over any of the Die Hards, and I love Die Hard and Die Hard With A Vengeance. But Eastwood and Leone were made for each other.

Looks like it's time for Die Hard to take the fall. Dont get me wrong, I love Die Hard - but TGtBtU is so much hands down a all time classic of film. From the score to the cinematography, to the casting - it's GrrrrEAT!

Of course were it a For a Few Dollars More vs TGtBtU - well, TGtBtU would be utterly smashed. Hell - I think I'll go put on Dollars now cause just thinking about it has got me wet.

And the ridiculousness of the Die Hard vs. _____ polls reaches it's zenith. Die Hard is one of the best action movies, if not the best. The Good the Bad and the Ugly is one of the best films EVER. There is no contest.

So to those 10 misguided souls that thought Die Hard was the better film, I'd like to hear exactly why they thought that way. I'd like to know their opinion, wrong though it may be.

There are 11 misguided souls now.

Anyways, I enjoy Good, Bad, and Ugly. Just that movie is a bit too long and not well paced at some part. Of course, GBU has the famous final scene with 3 gunmen draw.

Bah, I say to those who complain about the length. As far as I'm concerned the TGTBTU is not long enough.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of course, Die Hard doesn't even begin to compare.

I can't vote here.

Both are at the top of their genres. These two movies are incredibly different.

Comparing them side by side like this doesn't work well.

This is the first poll of these that I'm not voting in b/c the poll doesn't even make sense.

These are 2 completely different types of movies in 2 different genres. It's like asking what is the better movie Notorious or 101 Dalmations.

Stick w/ comparing movies of the same genre. A better step for this poll would have been Die Hard vs. Terminator 2.

I'm surprised at the results so far, since I figure a lot more people have seen Die Hard.

Seen 'em both at least a dozen times. Love'em both. Cross-genre comparisons being difficult at best, I have to side with TGTB&TU. It's got great acting between Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach!!!!(DH has Alan Rickman). It's got intense action with a personal touch (DH had plenty o' action, but automatic fire is so impersonal, don't you think?). And the nail in DH's coffin is TGTB&TU's magnificent Ennio Morricone score. W. O. W.
