Jennifer Lopez: The Reel Me CD & DVD!

Wow! I don't know if this is a recently released DVD, I see it advertised on DVD Talk's banners, but being in an isolated region in the most isolated country in the world makes me suspicious!

I bought the CD & DVD digipac today... and best DVD ever! Like a lot of us, I've been waiting for a DVD release of her more recent videos Jenny From the Block and I'm Glad (where she does a Flashdance homage). I don't know, maybe I'll even learn to like her music, too! (I do partly... but my preoccupation can be said to be elsewhere!) The behind-the-scenes footage of `I'm Glad' will make any guys eyes boggle!

Come on, she's a goddess and I don't care if she picks her nose and eats it... she's symbolic!

She should just wear hotpants and play volleyball everyday. On TV.

I'm not totally keyed in on this `anti-Lopez' stuff, but whatever; she has a disinctive act, and I find it cool; she's certainly no Celine Dion on the ears. I'm also surprised I'm the only one who finds her sexy, but she is. Why would you click on a Jennifer Lopez thread if you truly hated her? You guys really need to do something else with your time...

Great DVD... good music, sexy woman...

(Ha! It seems like I'm not the only one from Perth here!!)

Useless cow? Whore? Ho? R U... It's all rather pitiful garbage. It sounds very imature to resort to namecalling about someone you don't know and someone who is only experienced by choice.

That's exactly why I picked up this DVD as well. Just waiting for it to be delivered from DDD and since I haven't had cable for the longest time, I will be seeing many of these videos for the first time. I downloaded a couple off Kazaa to check out before I bought it and I have to say I really liked what I saw

You should rather like it, my only faults with the DVD are that many of the videos are in fullscreen (probably the way they were shot?) and the picture quality is not perfect (as, I find, with most music DVDs). The DVD portion lasts for about 2 hours, and features J-Lo in interviews with I forget who, I think some rapper, before each video is shown. I must say, the `I'm Glad' making of footage during the interview is way hotter than the video itself!!! I also like her videos on an artistic level.

And your opinion is the only one that matters; and the universe revolves around you? You didn't, in either of your posts, even attack her music, you attacked the person, calling her a whore and a useless cow. I'll respect it if it's your opinion that her music is redundant. You yourself stated that you are going to take every opportunity you can get to fling mud at her name to stop discussion by those who might be interested. I've said this to others before, but if in your opinion her music/appearance is shit then why hang around it and ruin it for others? I wouldn't do it if it was Celine Dion. It doesn't make sence of anyone to keep coming back and attacking someone on every imaginable level if you were sincerely disinterested in her music or image. You have had your say (even if it was camouflaged through name calling), and you have the choice to move on and be passive if you're so disinterested.

I don't hate her....thought she gave a good performance in "Out of Sight" BUT I do think her so-called music stinks....that rail thin voice is horrible.

Speaking of Celine Dion....she is an annoying showboat of a singer.

Because I'm fascinated when people truly stand up for music like this. I don't understand the overblown interest in J-Lo at all. I happen to really enjoy a few of the movies she's been in (Out of Sight, Cell & Angel Eyes), but the first time I saw her in a music video it was like watching a cheerleader trying to be a football player. It doesn't work.

I have no hate for this woman, just that acting ability doesn't always translate to music ability. In this sense she is exactly like Cher to me.

I like her music for what it is. It's pop and good pop at that. Will it stand the test of time? I doubt it but J-Lo puts out some good dance music and has an ADEQUATE voice for the type of music she sings. And of course, she's hot.

Um, no. Jennifer Lopez is not good pop. Good pop is Loveholic, La Oreja De Van Gogh, Nicole, Fey, Sarah Sadler, etc. Jennifer Lopez is just mediocre pop mixed with typical R&B and some really cheesy dance. Her vocal ability is not even decent, very monotone and boring, and a very fake "black" sound

One of the problems people have with Jennifer Lopez is her lack of identity. It is obvious, she tries to act black, tries to dress black, tries to talk black. She is obviously Hispanic, and like Christina Aguilera, does the exact same thing. Stop covering up your accent by trying to sing or talk black, and admit your heritage.

Her recent movies have also been, just, eh. Maid in Manhattan and The Wedding Planner seem to be the same movies with different settings and a different male lead. Gigli, we all know what happened with that one. And when movies like "Enough", "Angel Eyes", and "Selena" are your best, something is wrong.

My problem with her is that she is just like every other American celebrity: full of scandals, full of intrigue, over board on the sex appeal, and lackluster on the technical and artistic side of it all.

And you're right, she is hot, and sexy, and has the proportions most guys love. Thing is, that has never been what has allured me. Average girls with glasses and long natural hair, wearing moderately conservative clothing do. I'm not a conformist, just realizing that there is a lot more to beauty than cleavage.

Well, I don't think there's a great deal of difference between the talent level of Jennifer Lopez and one of my favourite dance acts, Ann Lee (Annerly Gordon; who also wrote the Whigfield songs). She is of course more talented, has a gentle voice, but J-Lo I think also has an interesting texture to her voice, her music's good and she doesn't sing like Celine Dion... piercing or discomfortable in the least. I think it's good music, is sung competently, if not fabulously, and she is an interesting, unique act with the talent to pull it off.

What about Kylie Minogue? I also bought a DVD of her video clips last week, and songs like Locomotion and whatnot don't show any potential. She is cheery and chirpy, and an excellent act, but I think J-Lo has her own act going, and her own identity (not chirpy, but `cool'), and she has the ability to perform. The music is good, in my opinion; much better than the songwriting for Britney Spears, and 95% of other pop acts! Her music is a different form of music to many pop acts, which sustain notes. She is trying to sing to a certain kind of hip hop/dance music, and as such she is limited...doesn't mean she isn't good at the kind of music she does! If success came to people who deserved it, Ann Lee and Billie Myers would be well known. I don't really care about the level of success, I'm just not into the competition aspect of singing.

I haven't seen many films with her in, but I've liked the ones that I have seen and I own a couple of others I'm yet to get to that look promising.

One last thing, she is a goddess! Pure & simple. I don't care about her personal life, she has a fantastic body, gorgeous face. Maybe she is obsessive compulsive, or maybe even manipulated people to get to where she is, I don't care. I believe her music is nice, refreshing from the usual crappy sound of teenage pop acts.

Everything good in life is idealism, anyway.

Thanks for bringing up Kylie. I've been programmed to hate her music thanks to that song "Locomotion". In the late 80's she was just as bad as Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. But prettier, yeah. Here she is today MUCH older and she's making some truly interesting and catchy dance music. I don't like it enough to purchase, but she's so much more interesting than J-Lo. I don't know, maybe you can't see the forest for the trees living in the same country Kylie is from. Can you imagine J-Lo singing a duet with Nick Cave?

I must have bad vision or something, but J-Lo really is just the girl next door. She's pretty, but when I put her next to Kylie, for example,... UGH.
