Color of DVD Playback on TV

I have been watching my DVD's for about 4 years on a reliable Sony DVP S550D player connected to a Toshiba 27 Inch Flat Screen and a Sony Home Theater System. There were never any problems until last night. I slipped in a DVD, and the color playback on the TV Screen was black, green, and white. At the same time all the cable channels coming into to my TV were fine (i.e. ESPN, CNN, MTV, etc.) and colors were vivid. So I thought, if it is not the TV, it must be the DVD player. I looked in vain for any possible answer, and could not find any plausible explanation for such a disturbance in the color on the playback. I get the same problem with any DVD I use in the player.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any remedies or suggestions? Looking for any piece of advice.

Frustrated,

Kevin

Check your connecting wire(s). An s-video cable could lose a pin or a component cable (the one carrying red) might be bad.
