my 1999 DVD changer has lost red as a color, any ideas?
My old faithful Sony CX-860 has lost the color red, I seen that while watching "Grease 2" DVD any ideas? HDTV is working great on all my other DVD changers, I just can't get any 'red' they turn up as olive green. Tint controls don't help they go from green to a bright yellow, with 'no' red to be seen.
I go buy another DVD changer and mom who visits will have a shit fit, she knows I have 6 Changers on line right now(5-300 & a 200). It's not the money it's removing all the discs in their cases then removing a heavy to me changer (to garbage room floor), from a Vhs, and 2 single drawers one of which is region mod from my 100+ year table. This changer has a electronic door that opens with your remote, I hate to give it up. I hate the idea of filling it up with only B & W movies, then red won't make any difference. I can't buy another one she will go through the everloving roof. Why can't mothers realize when their sons have reached age 56, they have the right to do as they please?
Anyone?

What kind of cable/connector are you using to connect it to your TV?
Not a bad idea going with all B&W movies in that changer!

Accoustic research component (3 R-G-B), I didn't think to change cabels. One thing I did do, a few weeks ago I had a stuck door and used some WD-40 the door works perfectly now. The lack of red color started last night with the screening of Grease 2. My jacket pictures of red guitars are showing a muddied green in color. Blue and Yellow are great, but red is no where to be found.
X I have only a 3 B & W "A Night to Remember", "The Longest Day" and THEM. 297 is a long way to go, I would rather just throw this away. I don't think any of the members would be interested in it. X I will try another cabel but Accoustic Research is no cheapie Radio Shack cabel.

Just try any yellow video cable as a temporary replacement for the red component cable to see if that works.

X I am 'red' faced with EGG on my face!
X I owe you a DVD it was the red cabel that had worked its way loose, you saved me money, time and trouble of a task that would be a breeze for anyone else than me! Please take a look at my trade list, you can have *ANY* disc you see there sent by first class mail please give me your 'or' a address to send the disc to.
I feel like a fool not to have checked for a cabel to have worked its way into just hanging there not connected. The red has returned including some 'EGG' on my face!
P.S. X I am not kidding about that DVD, OOP or what ever title you want it's yours, to any address in the USA by 1st class mail.

Thanks for the offer, but no need. I've had that problem myself.
Actually, I'll take that Dell laptop you're having problems with. That is, if you're going to drop it out your window...
(With as many DVDs as you have, I'm shocked you only have a couple of B&W ones. You're missing a lot of good movies.)

Josh I am 56 soon to be 57, I was 'forced' to watch B & W television until I was 18 years of age! I have not changed my mind on movies from 1953 to present that they should have in color. Add to the list The Day The Earth Stood Still in B & W, once I started watching "The Thing" that was colorized I started liking the 1950's movies again. I prefer color but I also have pre-ordered Zorro 1941, Laura 1944 and The Adventures of Robin Hood who in 1938 was made in COLOR on the Industry Standard format. Until I was 18..38 years ago the ONLY way I could see color programs was to go the movies!
Do you blame me for my attitude towards colored movies?

X I am not talking about dropping the Dell out the window I am talking about 'throwing' it, as hard as I can to smash into thousands of pieces. Reodering another one from someone in my own town since Dell reps don't know how to restore what they have wiped clean. Add to that list "The Day The Earth Stood Still" only I have a true Dolby Surround of Bernard Herrmans sound track of that movie, that they didn't use even though they have used Silva Screen Records rerecorded Dolby Surround 4.0 music
in movies before.

Danol: I am just a couple years younger than you and went though the same things, videowise. I prefer my movies not to be colorized - colorized movies always look pasty and unnatural. B&W is often used to create a mood that is lost when colorized. But I doubt that I could ever convince you to change your viewpoint (I'm rather set also). Fortunately (for me and most), studios rarely release colorized movies to dvd anymore.

I'm only 40, but I never had a color TV until I was about 27 (I got my first one in 1990--we always had B & W TVs growing up. Still, you still couldn't pay to watch colorized movies so no, I don't understand your preference.
