can't seem to get my Toshiba 57hx93 reciever to recieve any hdtv channels...

I have an indoor amp. antenna and it won't really recieve any channels. it shows some of them in the grid but just won't have a pic. if it does show a pic it looks like a choppy, frozen DVD. it just says signal strength is low. when I checked the signal strength it says signal unlocked. and the peak is 0. how can I fix this? am I forgetting something? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The first thing you should do is remove the amp (remove it totally don't just unplug it) you are using on the antenna cable! That is the biggest mistake people make and what it does in most cases is overpower the HD receiver and you end up like you are with no signal or a extremely pixialized picture. Unless you live extremely far from the stations (50 miles +) you are trying to receive you don't use amps. Using amps on digital signals is not the same as analog where the higher the signal the better.

is your antenna indoors also? if you can't pick up the stations with an indoor or attic antenna, you may need to put one on the roof, that's what I had to do and it made a huge difference..
