Anyone else catch Under the Tuscan Sun?
There were sneaks in Chicago for Under the Tuscan Sun tonight. I'm not sure if this was a purely regional thing, but I'd imagine it was not.
So did anyone else catch it?
I thought it was above-average film. It was pretty funny and it also had its fair share of genuinely touching moments.
And maybe I'll be the only 19-year-old to admit it, but Diane Lane is pretty damn foxy for a chick twice my age.

I was dragged kicking and screaming (though I gave in just a wee bit for Diane Lane *yumm!*) a couple weeks ago. I had not seen anything but the poster on the free pass we had, and lo and behold, I loved it! I fully expected a chick flick where the plot would take a left turn and involve someone dying of breast cancer or something. Instead, I found a funny upbeat film that wasn't sappy at all. I wouldn't put it in a 'chick flick' genre, and it obviously is not a guy film. I'd put it in some other category next to 'Scent of a Woman.' In short, I'm glad I hadn't seen a single trailer (they make it look so corny) nor even knew the plot.
Men, you need not be afraid!
*And Mrs.Lane looks damn fine in it too

My fiancee is horribly disappointed with the trailer for it. She read the book this is based on and they apparently changed the main things the book is based upon for the movie. She went from dying to see it to pissed and refusing to see it.

I saw a sneak preview and thought it was decent. Not really my thing, but it made me laugh. Some people that sat behind me obviously hated it and talked through most of the film, which was super annoying.

I thought it was good, solid film of picking up the pieces and getting your life back on the tracks. Fans of Diane Lane won't be disappointed, even though the film doesn't seem to have enough "meat" on its bones. The travel log aspect of the film is fine, makes for a lovely backdrop, that's for sure. Sandra Oh practically steal every scene she's in.
I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.
(There is a short disclaimer at the end of the film about how the film did change some aspects from the book for dramatic purposes).

Wife wanted to check this out so I went of course. She was asleep about 30 min in. Not my cup of tea either to be sure, I was SO tempted to run next door to catch Rundown while she was snoozing.

From: Lounging on the beach in L.A., frappucino in hand...
Saw it this weekend (FINALLY!), and loved it!
From a female perspective, nice to see the heroine in a movie played by someone past puberty-age, and not "overly perfect" to boot (yes Diane Lane is beautiful, she's just not plastic-surgery-Barbie-doll-pretty), you know?
I thought some of her scenes were... I don't know... over-acted, or overly-emotional, something like that... but I loved the themes in the movie, and the idea of starting over, and having faith in good things to come. Huge thumbs up to the story about building the train-tracks before there was a train that could make the trip, that was an awesome point.
Oh, and also from a female perspective, the Italian boyfriend was YUMMMY!!!
Yum, yummmmmm...
