Damn, if you had seen it that would have pushed it over the 32.500008 mark!

I'm not surprised I went to see it last night and when I got there about 8.00pm every showing was sold apart from 11.30pm so I had to wait for that. I booked my Matrix Reloaded tickets as well as one of the showings for May 14th has already sold out.

And X2 was much better than the first one.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Green light more X-men sequels right now! Spin off the Wolverine franchise!

Also from the article on Boxoffice Mojo, it also said that X-men was released in more theaters than any other movie, breaking Harry Potter: The Chamber of Secrets record. That's amazing to me. The first X-men did fairly well at the box office, but the DVD is where it made a ton of money. Glad to see a good franchise getting the props it deserves.

If it follows the same multiplier for the weekend that Spiderman did, it could make around $94-95 million this weekend.

I am guessing it'll make about $85-$87 million.

That is great. I wonder if the Matrix will beat it the first weekend. Or it could be just like last year with Spidey.

ur kidding right?

The Matrix will not only break what ever X-Men does this weekend, It will also break Spider-Man's record too.

X2 was great. Barry Singer is Da Man.

Don't see it happening, since Matrix 2 will be rated R and that automatically cuts out a big chunk of the audience. I'm sure Matrix will do great, but it's got a large handicap compared to the PG13 movies.

Yeah, & the director Bryan Singer ain't to bad either.

I have to say I'm pretty shocked at the BO total for Fri. Is that only domestic. I figured X2 would do about 65 million opening weekend, but not any more.

My only concern with the sequal which will keep on coming is if members of the cast just start dropping off. I'm pretty positive I've read they all want to be back for X3 w/ the exception of Halle "Big Head" Berry. I know Mystique, Cyclops & Singer are already all signed for X3.

Don't count "Matrix Reloaded" out just yet. I think it's opening will equal "X2" at the very least. I see that one breaking a lot of records. Not since "Star Wars" have I seen that many rabid fans

I'm pretty sure owning mahowny won't make much money this weekend being on a couple of screens and all (The theater I saw it in on friday here in nyc was almost entirely empty)

But it's still was a fantastic film.

Actually, I wouldn't see that as a bad thing. The comics have stayed fresh for as long as they have because they have constantly rotated characters in and out. If the movie franchise lasts longer than three episodes, seeing the same characters over and over can get a bit stale (except the staples like Wolverine and Prof. X).

The advantage that X2 has is that there is virtually NO competition. I'm guessing it could also set a record for the percentage of all ticket sales. I remember the Phantom Menace had something like 90%+ of all box office ticket sales on its opening day.

No doubt by the time Matrix:Reloaded comes out, the market will be split. Add to that the Matrix's R rating. But, the rabid fanboys will be definitely out in force and they could see it multiple times in the first weekend. So, I think if the Matrix does as well as X2 in its opening weekend, it will be a success. Well, even if it doesn't, I know it will have a pretty long shelf life.

WOO HOO! This proves that the first film got a lot of its fan base when it hit video. The numbers for Friday alone this time are about 60% of what the original one opened with, so cool!

Worth every penny! However I also believe both X2 & Spidey (at least it's weekend record) will be beaten by Reloaded regardless of the R rating.

I believe you mean www.boxofficemojo.com

Wow, Lizzy Maguire still managed to pull in $18 mil as well. Nice counter-programming!

I've seen it three times already-I'm trying to secure X3, X4, ect.!! HaHa! Seriously, I did see it three times. First X1 I could watch a hundred times and never be bored, same w/X2. Excellent movie! I'm so glad that I'm an X-geek!!!

This movie sure made alot of money in just a short period of time I hope to see it soon I tend to stay away from packed theaters as for X3 bring it on hopefully it won't fall into the same trap that Batman and Robin did when that franchise turned campy and cheesey.
