Variety reports that THE ILL, a George Romero project first announced here quite a while ago, finally looks ready to go. The movie, about a college slacker who falls in love with a mysterious Eastern European exchange student who proves to have unusual appetites, will roll late this summer for P-Kino Films. IN-Motion Pictures has picked up worldwide distribution rights outside the U.S. and Britain, with domestic distribution yet to be nailed down.

any word on what happened with that potential fourth Zombie flick?

I guess its fate depends, unfortunately, largely on the success of Anchor Bay's upcoming Dawn Of The Dead remake.

DEAD RECKONING is once again in development hell! Romero has walked away from the Fox offering, as it was to be produced for its television division. What crap! What were they thinking?
Romero will only make this film his way so he'll hold out for the right offer. At least he's keeping busy with another project.

Ya Romero takes none and im glad he does these sorta things,if the movie is going to be crap at least we know he put effort into it.

Remake.

Anchor Bay is not involved with the theatrical remake.
Strike Entertainment and Universal are the companies involved,
with Universal distributing. This remake should have nothing to
do with Romero's DEAD RECKONING. George has had this on the table for well over two years now. His problem is his desire to produce an "unrated" edition for theatres, a concept that scares most potential investors/distributors. George will hold out until his terms are met.

As much as I admire Romero for refusing to release a cut version of Dead Reckoning, part of me wonders if it would be better if he just bit the bullet and let an R rated cut into theaters, then gave us the beautiful unrated cut in all its glory a few months later. Honestly, due to unfortunate policies in most theater chains, an unrated movie will get such a limited theatrical release anyway... maybe the top markets. But for those of us who don't live in huge cities, we wouldn't get to see it until DVD anyway.

I thought Romero's next flick was going to be about Amityville.
