Joel Schumacher finally doing something serious for once in his life....

I saw the trailer for the movie "Veronica Guerin" starring Cate Blanchett and Collin Farrell. It's about damn time, Schumacher finally decided to do a serious drama movie.

The movie is about a real life journalist who was assasinated by drug dealers.

You can watch the trailer at the movie's official site here:
Veronica Guerin

This movie sounds very promising. So if this movie turns out really good, I'm going to be so happy for Schumacher.

You haven't seen "Tigerland," then? Good, serious stuff, and I usually hate Schumacher's movies.

Yeah, same here, I never liked any of his films.

So hopefully this one will turn out really good.

Schumacher definately seems to have a liking for Colin Farrell, I guess he discovered him for Tigerland and wants to make him a star.

He's done 2 good movies with him so far. He might as well stick with what works.

He and Farrell sure must take a liking to eachother. This will be their third film in Colin's early career.

All seriousness I like Cate Blanchett a lot. If it comes to my town I might go and see it.

I will forgive schumacher's paycheck film, bad company. Haven't seen it, but i'm sure it's by the numbers.

I really liked phone booth. It may have to do more with the screenplay, but I have to give schumacher props because
he did direct it well. Or at least he didnt mess it up.

Tigerland as mentioned before is a really good dramatic film.
It's emphasis is on character, unlike schumachers other films which are seemingly more about set design.
I am betting he has made another good dramatic film with veronica, and I will see it when it comes out.

Also, 1993's Falling Down is dare I say, dramatic. I also liked that film as well.

Speaking of Schumacher and Farrell, Colin Farrell was recently on "Dinner For Five", the IFC show. He talked about how he loved to work with Schumacher, and how he (Schumacher) makes crappy commercial films so he can afford to go off and do films like Tigerland or whatever. Personally I'm not that familiar with Schumacher's work; I liked Falling Down, didn't like Lost Boys, and those are about the only ones of his I can name, except for Phone Booth, which I haven't seen yet.

And then jon said, is that what your doing too?

I like colin farrel, i like sam jackson, i like jen garner, but i am so freaking sick of them!

They're getting to that annoying eddie murphry status.

At least Dinero took a break......

They should make a movie with Dinero, Murphey, Garner, Jackson, and Farrel all in the same movie, and make it about a casino heist too.

And it should also star Ed Norton, and
Spoiler:
at the end he double-crosses everyone.

I'll take Farrell over any of those listed anyday.

And I did see that episode of Dinner For Five and am glad Garner got ousted out of most of the conversation: I really can't stand her.

Garner hasn't really done a whole lot... a pretty tiny role in Catch Me If You Can and Electra in Daredevil. Besides that, pretty much nothing. And since i don't watch ABC all that often, i barely see news on her.

Joan Allen already did this in When the Sky Falls. Taking the "Nosferatu" route, they couldn't get the rights to the Veronica Guerin story, so they changed all the names and embellished the best bits.

And I'm sure, one day, one day... they'll find an Irish actor to play Veronica. Victoria Smurfit? Alison Doody, anyone?

When I think of Joel Schumacher, I think of Batman and Robin, Batman Forever, and Bad Company. It's surprising how much good output he's had:

Flatliners
Falling Down
A Time to Kill
The Client
The Lost Boys
8 MM
Tigerland
Phone Booth

...all movies I've seen and enjoyed.

I think a lot of people are thinking of Bruckhimer. Generally Bruckhimer, Bay, and Schumacher seem to follow that crap trend.

Im still mixed feelings about him, one the one hand he did batman and robin, on the other he did falling down, on the other hand he did batman and robin.

If u watch batman and robin every shot is at a 45 degree angle.

But falling down.........
