The next Alien movie
I've been hearing a few different rumors about the next Alien film
One has Ridley Scott doing it and the story being about the Aliens basically making it to earth and a big war ensues
Another is that James Cameron would like to do another movie, if anything just to keep McG or whatever from doing an Aliens vs Predator movie
So, anyone have any new info or what do you think it will be in the end?

the only alien movie i ever liked, was aliens by james cameron. though i'm not sure if he has it in him, to make another great one. but you never know. maybe this is just what he needs, to go back to his roots.
personally i think they should leave it alone, and start thinking up of new movies. franchise films and remakes are getting boring. profitable, but boring.

Get rid of Ripley is the #1 step to take.
Ok, that being said, the two best options would be:
1) Aliens vs Predator
and
2) Aliens on Earth
I agree that franchise films and lots of sequels can get stale, but they can be good too. 1 and 2 were brilliant, 3 and 4 were not. Hopefully they can get back to the quality of the beginning. BUt, you know what, if they don't, simple solution -- don't watch. Rent Aliens and be happy.

CAMERON AND SCOTT TOGETHER!!!
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.ht...inment/1859736
"Alien 5: James Cameron recently talked about "Ghosts of the Abyss" and of course he brought up his various in the work projects. Most notably came talk that Cameron & Director Ridley Scott "have talked about doing an Alien film together, with Cameron writing and producing and Scott directing”. The reason for the "True Lies 2" scrapping was revealed - "We were struggling with it, trying to figure out a story. Then when Sept. 11 happened, I just thought an action comedy about an anti-terrorism unit trying to stop Arab terrorists from smuggling nuclear weapons onto U.S. soil was just not that funny anymore". He also commented on the upcoming “Terminator 3”, the franchise he created but is no longer a part of - “I'm like so over that by now. You can't hold on to that stuff. There's nothing they can do to me on Terminator 3 that's going to be as outrageous as that [everyone dying at te start of “Alien 3”]".

Wait a minute Rypro. You cut out important and crucial quotes from the story:
Alien director Ridley Scott initially was not amused, Cameron said. The two subsequently have talked about doing an Alien film together, with Cameron writing and producing and Scott directing, Cameron said.
David Fincher's Alien 3 -- which killed off characters Cameron created, essentially negating the outcome of Aliens -- has braced Cameron for anything that Terminator 3 might deliver.
"I'm like so over that by now. You can't hold on to that stuff," Cameron said. "There's nothing they can do to me on Terminator 3 that's going to be as outrageous as that."
--Looks like nothing but talks. I would give it a 5% chance of actually happening.

Couldn't disagree more. An Alien movie without Ripley would be like The Wizard of Oz without Dorthy.

Maybe the Aliens could fight the Predators on the Titanic, while the Marines have to borrow a deep-sea drilling rig to get close enough to join the fight. Oh, and robots covered in human flesh, don't forget that.

Something along the lines of Steve Perry's Aliens books might be nice.

Ripley was doing it for a noble cause, to stop others from using this menace. Newt's reason could have been pure revenge and would serve as both a contrast to Ripley's cause and also serve as her character flaw.
Besides...wasnt Sigouney Weaver the one to say "no guns at all" in "Alien3"?

I don't see why these guys are so down on a AvP film (I remember Weaver dissing the idea at the time A:R came out).
Hell, if "Alien Resurrection" wasn't bad enough with that idiotic clone angle. Joss Whedon should be ashamed of himself.
Somebody should've told Weaver that if she wanted to be killed off Alien3, then she ain't changing her mind and coming back.
Alien3, by killing off Newt, Hicks, and Ripley, was designed as a franchise killer. There weren't supposed to be any more damned movies after that, at least following that particular arc.

The next alien picture should be about how ripley finally makes it back to earth only to find that her united states citizenship was revoked due to her being gone so long from the earth and she finds that she in fact is now an illegal alien living in washington d.c. trying to fight the man in a battle of words with the justice system.
