Evanescence: what are they like?

This new band that had the only good track on the Daredevil album is doing a free acoustical performance at my local Tower Records this Saturday. Are they worth seeing or should I just skip it?

They are sort of a hard rock metal band with a female singer and male singer.

Heard that Daredevil song on the radio and the DJ made some wise-ass remark about how "Finally, there's a band that Tori Amos fans and POD fans can agree on."

I would have picked a stronger representative of their "rockin'" edge, though, as I found the song rather good. [No offense to POD fans.]

If you end up going to the show, I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on it.

The male singer was just a guest spot for "Bring Me To Life". Definitely go check them out, Amy Lee's vocals are amazing. I saw them in Houston last month. If you do a search, someone posted a site that had a radio interview and acoustic tracks with Evanescence.

Lucky DOG, definitely go see them. Amy Lee's vocals are amazing, as are the lyrics on many of their songs. Their entire CD, "Fallen" is amazing.

If you don't go, you're nuts!

The acoustic version www.dc101.com is better then the album version (note, hot chick at home page, may be innapropriate for work.) Go to the word "Elliot" and go down from there and you should be able to find it from there.)
Also another great song of theirs is "My Immortal" which is a ballad with no guitars and no rapping.

What is the song that they play on the radio a lot right now? I don't think it's the Daredevil one. It starts out with just her singing and then sounds a little more like rock more into it.

Hmmmm, that's not the one that plays on the radio that I hear all the time. Is there another one out on the radio maybe?

The quality sucks and its acoustic. (and you can't put it on a cd or put it on an mp3 player.) If you live out here or in the dc area, they play this version on dc 101.

Just got back from their performance. Overall they were really impressive, even if only two of their members performed since it was acoustical.
Let me say that the pic of Amy Lee on the album cover does not do her justice, she is a gorgeous girl and doesn't need to be shone in a blue light. On top of that, she has a beautiful voice. Overall, I enjoyed them and wished I could attend their performance at a local club, but it was sold out. If anyone here has the opportunity to catch them, please do so.

On a side note, their album was the first one I have ever had signed by the artists. A great experience!

I can send you the link to download the acoustic version along with the Origin material (I talked about it in the other "Evanescence" thread floating around the music forum)

Its virtually the same except the dc101 link plays at 320kb while the one I found plays at 256kb.

I was able to burn the 256 version to cd and my psa 120.

Also, if anyone here hasn't picked up Fallen yet, some B & Ms have it for about $10-12(CC, BB Target).

If anyone is interested, there is some huge festivil in Atlanta ga featuring like 100 bands including them, godsmack and much more. And although not confirmed, its likely they will play hfstival, but hfs will do everything in their power to get 12 stone to play as well.

Basically, you want to play the file through Real Player? Wouldn't you just hit File, Open File?

When is the Atlanta Festival? I'm heading there in Sept for the Prog Power IV Festival.

Thanks candy!

Very Comprehensive collection of their music on there.

They have a ton of tracks out.

Counting multiple versions, I count over 50 including their new cd.

Awesome, Awesome band.

Thanks again.

They apparently either backed out or they aren't listed yet but there was a grand prize in md to win tix to this if you signed up and wanted the crappy godsmack cd.
And this tuesday, they will announce the hfstival lineup which will probably get posted here on the forum.
