Amazing Capcom 2D Beat-em-up Clone You've Never Heard Of
I was catching up on the emulator scene this weekend and aside from discovering EXCELLENT playstation (ePSXe) and System 11 (zinc) emulation, I finally found an emulator (Nebula) that can play this old-school 2D beat-em-up game called Knights of Valour.
KOV is like Capcom's Warriors of Fate: A hand-drawn 2D Final Fight clone with characters from ancient Chinese history. Unlike most clones, the graphics are actually GOOD, pretty close to Capcom CPS1 arcade games and hella fun to play. And it didn't even come from Japan! There are 8 characters to choose from and they all have special moves, level ups, and can juggle combo the enemies if you time the attacks right. It was made in the mid-90s, which may be why it has a relatively advanced fighting system for a beat-em-up. Mame does play this game, but without sound. Nebula is the first time I've been able to play it with sound and I had a great time. You can go online and play 4 players with your buddies, too, which is a huge plus. Definitely check it out if you get the chance.
