It's not that I don't want to watch it..I just have no idea why I don't.
I mean, the talk show appearances i've seen with Tom Cavanagh have been entertaining..Michael Ian Black was very funny during the [brilliant] 80s specials that VH1 had on recently..and I don't really need to say anything about Julie Bowen, do I..
?
Perhaps I should get a TiVo?
Am I right? Am I missing a good show?

Well, they just moved to Fridays so maybe you can catch it now. Even though tonight's episode is supposed to be a major plot episode, I don't think you'll miss too much no matter when you decide to watch it. My only complaint with the show is that not much seems to happen. Everything's still basically the same as it was the first episode.
Best shows that I'm not watching would probably be West Wing and Sopranos. I've watched a whole season of Sopranos because it's so well-made, but I never really enjoyed it. For some reason I don't think I've been able to make it through a whole episode of West Wing though.

As for shows that are available. I don't know - maybe The Guardian.

Presumably Great Shows That I Missed Completely
Never Seen a Single Episode Of... Pt.1
The X-Files: Fox's always-insulting promotions department spoiled this one for me... The initial eposides were heavily promoted as "based on real FBI files," broadly hinting that there was a real conspiracy, and that this show was uncovering actual events... Which I was smart enough even back then to know was complete crap...
By the time I noticed there was a decent Sci-Fi series buried under all that conspiracy paranoia and anti-skepticism bias, it was already clear that Chris Carter's mythology arc was crumbling under its own weight... So I didn't bother...

I watched the first episode of The Wire and decided there were too many characters and it wasn't worth the effort. I think now it might have been worth it...
FWIW, I've never seen an episode of ER and I don't plan on seeing one ever, although I hear it's a good show. Same with The Practice, now that I think about it.

Never Seen a Single Episode Of... Pt.2
ER: I was a huge fan of St. Elsewhere many moons ago, but afterwards there weren't any good medical shows... and I found I didn't miss them much, either... When ER and Chicago Hope debuted at the same time, it was the "other" show I was more interested in--Micheal Crichton had already churned out too much dreck, and David E. Kelley still had a hot reputation... I though CH had a better creative pedigree and cast... Also, I was turned off by ER's reputation of pushing the *ick* factor in its trauma stories, and the relentless tension and screaming of its emergency plots didn't sound too apealling...
Not sure why I didn't pick it up later, especially once George Clooney became a breakout star, except I hate coming into the middle of long, continuing storylines... It's one of those shows I figured I'd catch eventually in syndication, but never have...

The West Wing, for me. I've watched it, but couldn't get into it because so much has already happened. I hope it comes out on dvd so I can see it from the beginning.

Ed's okay, Gilmore Girls is great. Compare Kirk to Phil. Kirk is funny every time he shows up, but never overpowers the rest of the episode. Phil is annoying solely to try and get laughs and often can take over the whole tone of the episode (in a bad way). I could go on, every time I see Ed it reminds me of some new area where GG is better. Of course, this is IMHO.
As for the best show I'm not watching, it's got to be The Shield. I'm not even sure when or where it's on and have never bothered to find out. I may eventually get it on DVD when I have more spending money (sometime in the very distant future).

I don't watch a lot of the popular shows. Probably because I don't find out about them till later and I hate to start watching mid-season. And whe I do watch a show from the start it'll get cancelled.
Shows I've never seen a full episode of:
The Sopranos
West Wing
C.S.I.
I don't really regret it because I watch too much TV already and I'm more of a movie person anyway...
