New Shinobi game for PS2 :(

Sega developer Overworks is hard at work on a new Shinobi title for PlayStation 2, company representatives confirmed in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu. The developer apparently plans to implement a game system completely different from that featured in its first PS2 ninja adventure, which at least offers hope for those stymied by that game's savage difficulty and questionable checkpoint system.
Expect further news leading into E3, where this game will likely make its first appearance.

Bad new for XBOX Owner!

1. Street of Rage (PS2)
2. Shinobi (PS2)
3. Virtual Fighter 4 (PS2)
4. Alter Beast (PS2)
5. ......................................................

If Ninja Gaiden turns out to be excellent, I won't care about Shinobi.

Add Gunvalyk and Crazy Taxi 3 to that list!!

Though, the list of Sega's upcoiming PS2 games, only Streets of Rage interests me.. that was just a fun, fun game. I hope they keep it simple and fun!! (And get the same music composer, what was his name? He got so much out of the Genesis's little sound chip it was amazing.)

his name was Yuzo Koshiro. He also did the soundtrack to Revenge of Shinobi.

Do you know if he's done any modern soundtracks? Dreamcast and beyond?

Panzer's good, but the other two are terrible IMO.

To be fair, I don't like Shinobi or Virtua Figher 4 either. I've never been much of a sega fan in general.

Who ever thinks Crazy Taxi is a AAA title for Sega is in denial, the game is boring and wares thin after about 20 minutes of play, good arcade game but a bad console game,VF4 is overrated and IMO so is Sega,PDO is probably there best game in the past year besides sports games,I do wanna see what Altered Beast will turn out.

I'm kind of glad they are going to rework Shinobi. I was really looking forward to it but sadly let down with the end result. I really don't want another Tenchu ( but the idea of a modern ninja sounds appealing) but I would like something different than just hacking your way past various non-descript bad guys in generic environments.

good news! I loved Shinobi for the PS2, it was pretty cool that even though it was in 3D the game was still old school in design and had some real kick ass action. I don't see how all the sites complained that it was too difficult. Sure it was challenging at times, but it wasn't "that" hard once you get used to the controls.

It's not bad news for this Xbox owner, because I own BOTH a Xbox *and* PS2, and let's not forget a Gamecube as well. It seemed like Sega was working closely with Microsoft from what I've seen, I see it more than likely that some of those games end up on other consoles.

The PS2 shinobi was a huge dissapointment. I dont know much about the difficulty because I couldnt sit through and play past the first stage. Eventhough its not a horrible game, it is definately not what I would expect from a game called SHINOBI. I expected hours and hours of fun, and hoped it wouldnt be 3d.

JSRF needs some serious loving here on the forum. Definitely one of the best games to come out last year. Obviously not as revolutionary as JGR -- first cell-shaded game, but still a lot of fun with a lot more content -- bigger maps, more objectives, more secrets, less frustration, better graphics, new soundtrack, etc.

I loved the PS2 until I got to stage 8-A. I beat that one after a few dozen tries, and I'm now on 8-B...but this level is so difficult I just dont' want to play anymore.

Hopefully they'll make a better save/checkpoint system for the next Shinobi.
I hate Tenchu btw.

Hey I hear you.. JSRF is the reason I bought an Xbox, and still the game that's gotten the most play time, and easily one of my favorite games of all time. I cried when Smiletbit said they wouldn't make another.

I played Crazy Taxi 3 and JSRF on the Xbox and neither really interested me. Panzer Dragoon Orta is the one I regret not having an Xbox anymore to play.
