Easy Riders, Raging Bulls/Blockbuster Imperitive Docs on Trio

Anyone see these two documentaries on the Trio channel? What did you think?

I saw the Blockbuster one and thought it was pretty interesting.

I don't think all of Hollywood has given in to the Blockbuster mentality they describe, but it sure seems like a greatly increasing number of movies do follow the described pattern.

There were plenty of behind-the-scenes stories that were interesting.

And, yes, Bruckheimer/Simpson has had a huge hand in creating this Blockbuster Imperative.

I thought it was really interesting to see the head of Dreamworks Marketing admit and discuss that that they lied to and misled the public about what kind of movie The Haunting was going to be in order to have a big opening weekend. Her candor in discussing this kind of deception was surprising.

I dumped digital cable for DirecTV just so I could get TRIO and watch Easy Riders, Raging Bulls. Ok, beside that I am loving it and my DirecTivo, but this movie is what made me take the plunge now instead of later.

I really enjoyed it. I thought the book was better, obviously because it could into a lot more depth but it was still a great documentary about my favorite era of filmmaking.

In what way did they misrepresent it?

For those that have read Easy Riders, Raging Bulls how does the doc compare to it? Does it have as many contributed interviews as the book does?

Jadzia glad to see you love the DirecTiVo now

Was kinda worried after your Replay vs. TiVo thread.

I can't remember her name, but she discusses how they knew the film was absolutely horrible and was in no way scary. The budget was high and Dreamworks was afraid of losing money. She said that they took images and presented the film as a terrifying haunted house film. They never screened the film to the public or to critics before the release so there would be no negative word of mouth before hand. If you've seen the film, you know that it's not very scary at all. Quite terrible in fact. She even talks about how guilty she felt after literlly stealing the public's money.

It took me awhile to get used to the software, and there are a few things I prefer about Replay, but the DirecTivo outweighs it all. My main complaint is with the two tuners, I am recording so much it seems like I can never catch up on my viewing.

So will this Blockbuster movie be on again? I honestly have not watched any TRIO besides the Easy Riders movie. It sounds interesting as well.

It's worth seeing. It's really like the continuation of the Easy Riders Doc. It picks up right where Easy Riders leaves off.

I too just got DirecTivo after having digital cable. It's amazing. I'm so damn happy with my new system.
