Fischerspooner's #1: Best Bonus DVD I've seen Thus Far!
Hello all,
Fischerspooner's (neo-electro/electrocla$h) "#1" came out yesterday, and the limited edition has an incredible bonus dvd. Not only does the bonus disc have the entire album in fairly decent 5.1 DD, it also includes about 15 remixes, 4 videos, a 20+ minute documentary on the band, a collection of background video compositions that played during their live show (45+ minutes), photos, tour info, and a collection of their music in digital format. This is how CDs with Bonus dvds should be done - a high quality PCM CD, a lower bitrate surround track on the dvd, and a boatload of extras that actually merit the marketing promise of a "full-length bonus disc." Kudos to FS studios!
Edited to add: Another nice touch is the price point - rather than charging another $10 for the limited edition (a la Tori on Scarlet's Walk - a real disappointment of a "bonus" disc), this disc costs the same as most "bare-bones" releases - a (still-too-high) $17.98!

Wow, sounds like they could have sold that DVD as a stand-alone product. Hope others are paying attention.
The collection of background video compositions that played during their live show is a really nice touch.

RevLiver,
I too had the import, but had to upgrade. And I'm glad I did. I haven't had a chance to watch everything yet (I wasn't expecting much more than some videos), but the video and audio quality seems pretty good. One caveat - while I haven't had any significant problems (yet), the disc's authoring seems somewhat suspect - menus don't respond to commands for 3-4 seconds after reaching them.
Did you hear that the band (if you can call them that - "performance art musical ensemble" is a mouthful) is on tour in April?
