What artists in your collection is this forum responsible for?
so, i'm curious, how many people here have been introduced to an artist's music through this forum and whom you have liked enough to add an album (or albums) of theirs to your collection? (i hope this makes sense!
)
i cannot think of any offhand right now for myself, but i'm sure if i dig a little, i'll find some.

Another ditto to ...Trail of the Dead - and I can't get rid of that cd fast enough - I ended up hating it so much.
Not because the songs were so bad - they were actually pretty well-written songs - but the aesthetics of their sound were atrocious - from the singer's nasally whining to the high reverb/high treble guitars screeching in my head like nails on a chalkboard.
It's like hanging out with a really smart girl who happens to be really, really ugly.

I have yet to buy anything that I have read about in this forum, yet, but I have written down a few suggestions from Talkers w/ similar music interests.

From: John "57 Varieties" Kerry represents me in the US Senate.
I suppose I checked out Dream Theater largely based on the handful of posters who named them as their fave band. Although, this *may* have been back in the day before Music Talk was its own forum - when musical topics were covered in Other.
And now I'm the proud owner of their "Six Degrees..." album. "The Glass Prison" is a hell of a song.

Belle and Sebastian, supplied by Badly Drawn Boy; and The Waxwings, thanks to many suggestions in my "looking for new music" thread a while back.
On another note, I was just introduced to Voltaire's "When You're Evil" and Liam Lynch's "United States" by a cow-orker the other night. Funny, funny stuff.

I would have to say Dream Theater as well. There was alot of discussion surrounding this band & their new album here and at HTF so I figured I might as well check it out. Needless to say Six Degrees.... is one of my favorite CD's.

I could be wrong, but I think this forum me be responsible for my being aware of the existence of Tenacious D, which is a very good thing.
