Looking for the best digital cable amplifier.
I currently have an existing cable amplifier installed on my house but it is no longer doing the job. I have 4 active outlets with one of those split 3 ways so a total of 6 active hookups. I also have 2 cable modems on seperate lines. My cable company charges 45.00 for the amplifier so I am looking at buying my own. Since I am on digital cable, I need a two way amplifier. I know I saw one at best buy but I can't find it on their website and I was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations on models to look at and compare.

This thing is awesome.
BTW, digital cable is not really digital. Only channels past 100 are truly digital -- the rest are analog. This amp will boost reception without ghosting.
Also get this splitter:

I don't have my signal split as much as you, so YMMV.

i have cable broadband and am wondering if i can just purchase another modem and plug it into another outlet and use both modems/connections at the same time. I want to be able to play x-box live and use internet at the same time in different rooms. what do i need?

I believe you're looking for a broadband router/switch, not another cable modem. Check http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ for info. I have a shared VDSL setup so I can't comment on cable specifically.

just wanted to let you know about the singnal boosters. In my new house the signal is split between about 4 jacks. thaty means that i have a 4 way and a 2way splitter on the line that comes in to the house. this degrades the cable quality by very visible ammount. I tried 3 or 4 different signal boosters and all of them actaually made it worse rather then better. this is just my experience. I would get it from somwhere where you can easily return the booster.

Oraphus, where did you install the signal booster? If you installed it close to your tv all you will do is amplify the noise and bad picture. but if you installed it as close to the drop as possible it should boost the signal and hopefully get rid of the noise. The other problem could be your signal may actually be too strong which would also cause a bad picture and an amplifier would only make it worse.

i had mine installed before all the spliters, right where the base whire came in to the house. The distance that the cable is ran also has a lot to do with it. I ended up unhooking all the splitters and just keeping the 2 rooms that i have a tv in. It improved the quality.
