The legendary actor who starred in such film classics as "Lawrence of Arabia" and "The Lion in the Winter" will finally take home an Oscar.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Friday that it would be awarding veteran British thespian Peter O'Toole with an honorary Oscar for Lifetime Achievement.
O'Toole, 70, has been nominated for seven Oscars without a win. In addition to Best Actor nominations for "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962) and "The Lion in the Winter" (1968), O'Toole earned nods for "Becket" (1964), "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" (1969), "The Ruling Class" (1972), "The Stunt Man" (1980) and "My Favorite Year" (1982).
Frank Pierson, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said Friday that O'Toole's seven nominations put the actor "in an extremely rarefied air for a performer." And, Pierson said, the Academy's Board of Governors "felt it was time for him to hold an Oscar in his hands."
O'Toole will be presented his honorary Oscar at the 75th annual Academy Awards, set for March 23 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Calif.
Well it's about time. I'm not sure who he lost against those 7 times, but it is good that they are finally honoring him.

Ha, this reminds me of an event my dad went to a couple years ago. I forget what the function was, but he said he met Peter O'Toole there and that he was so sloppily drunk he was stumbling around and couldn't even talk straight. I found that amusing.
And good deal on him getting the oscar. His resume definately deserves it. Supergirl was one of the defining moments in 80s cinema. Well, ok, but the rest of his resume definately is worth noting. And that's no joke.
