rooting for the bad guy in movies

anyone got some good dvd ideas for movies where you end up rooting for the bad guy - whether intentional or not by the director/writer. e.g pitch black (vin diesal).

i know there was another one ive seen recently because i remember talking to my friends about it, and now i cant think of it (and its driving me mad!).

would you guys consider oceans 11 an example since they are actually robbing the place and breaking the law?

Heat. I liked Deniro's character much better than Pacino and honestly would have let the "Bad Guy" go. But most movies have to have a nice ending don't they?

Alan Rickman's villain in Die Hard had class. I also enjoyed him in Robin Hood as the frustrated villain. Don't know if I rooted for him in either case, but he was certainly fun to watch.

Bruce Willis in Payback, was a bad charecter, but over shadowed by worse charecters. Then there was also O-Dogg in Menece to Society. The hughes brothers in that movie talk about how he is a bad charecter, but every one liked him.

Moving to Movie Talk from Main. Even though you say you want "dvd ideas," you're asking about the movies, not anything related to the discs' specs.

Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven (even tho he was the protagonist, he was still a "bad guy").

Micheal Corleone (ditto the above).

While i don't generally cheer for the bad guy in movies, i do tend to find their characters more interesting.

There are literally thousands of movies that fit this description. Any crime movie worth its salt will have you symapthizing with the "bad guy". How about:

Psycho
Any of the Hannibal Lecter movies
The Getaway
A Perfect World
The Godfather films
Double Indemnity
Goodfellas or pretty much any Scorsese movie
Fargo

The list goes on and on...
