Hopefully, it won't do either. I have high hopes. Spies + Pacino + Farrell + Moynahan add up nicely in my book.

Are we going to have a thread for every movie that comes out this year that is titled "HOW BAD WILL _____ BOMB???!!!". Whatever happened to actually giving movies a chance. especially as in this case, it looks promising. I mean this doesnt include a kangaroo stealing the money, now does it?

I really hope it is good, too, but the trailer is so long, imo. I think they gave away the whole story already. I wish they would just tease the audience a tiny little bit and leave it at that - don't give away the whole movie. I feel this way towards Vin Diesel's "A Man Apart" - that trailer gives away the whole story - do they have to let you know his wife gets killed and the whole movie is about revenge? No, they don't, but they did anyway...
Anyhew, back to the Recruit (trailer is on ESPN right now) I do like the cast that they have for the film - hopefully the story is good and I can come away happy.

I've got an advance critics screening coming up. I'll let everyone know!
I have high hopes... but I can't help but be wary of anything released in the first two months of the year.

Like every trailer for a Pacino movie, it starts with him talking monotone and ends with him [Pacino] SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS!![/Pacino]
I might check it out, but I am proceeding with caution.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE TO COME OUT!!!! So I don't have to see the damn trailer anymore. Jesus that thing sucks, and it gives away everything.
Another Pacino scenery chewing, dog barking bad performance? Count me out.

I don't pay much attention to commercials and i haven't seen the trailer, but wasn't this movie made before? It looks rather familiar.
It's kinda like Training Day and Spy Game combined.

Doesn't look to promising to me, I'm getting kind of tired of Al Pacino's method of acting - " I will enhance my acting and dramatic tension BY TALKING VERY LOUD!".
Another thing that just irks me, "You graduated at the top of your class at M.I.T. and are being recruited by the C.I.A." To be a goon?! I don't think so. Just because he's athletic doesn't mean anything. If he truly graduated at the top of his class at M.I.T., the C.I.A. would have him doing electronic espionage, satellite surveillance, etc. where his education and abilities would best be put to use. The "goon" work (running around, breaking into things, assasinating people, etc) would be left to someone with extensive weapons and military training, the ability to speak fluent foreign languages, etc. Those things just kinda bug me because it's like Hollywood saying, "gee, the audience sure is dumb, they won't know the difference".

I saw this tonight.
The film has been done before, but the actors make up for that.
Farrell, Pacino, and Moynahan do a great job.
If it were not for them, the film would be below par.
3 1/2 out of 5 (mostly for the performances)
And the storyline is very predictable.
After Clayton (farrell) makes Burke (pacino) spill his coffee:
"My d*ck. Is on fire."
