Superhero costumes on the Big Screen

being a life long comic book geek, i'm really relishing the resurgence of comic book characters in film and tv.
i will say that a big pleasure i get is seeing the characters come to life-as they've been visually deliniated throughout the years- especially seeing someone in an outrageous (as opposed to normal contemporary fashion) get-up cavorting amognst us mere mortals.
while faithful reproduction of a superhero costume is not as high on my list as say... sincerity in approach or providing a strong character conflict between villans goals and the heros, its still something i crave to see.
that in mind, i just don't 'get' why they diverged from the illustrated costume in this one tiny area.

compare this:

to this;

to me, i find the altered shot at the top to present a more impressive and intimidating presence than whats going to be seen in the film.

yes, i relize in the realm or adaptions this is beyond minor, but i was just curious if anyone else had the same reaction

I find it interesting you point this out when Bullseye doesn't even have a costume... Besides, isn't it closer to DD's first mask which was a Swashbuckler type bandana?

the second picture has the mask covering his cheeks. that'd make it harder to talk in, i'd guess.

Why go for the red outfit. I demand we get Daredevil with the Movie screen color which is more forgiving...

Yeah, the full mask/cowl would have looked a lot better. I suspect the reason they went with the half mask is so Benny can quickly whip it off and expose his pretty boy face. Can't have a leading man running around with his face covered up for the whole movie now, can we?

Never read any Daredevil except when he would show up in Spiderman books so I'm not to picky on the looks. To me, the movie costume looks fine. It seems that dark costumes look better on screen while bright colors look freaky in real life. Yes, even Spidey's look funky in the Times Square scene. Stroy made up for it.

Now what is up with Michael Clarke Duncan playing Kingpin? Nothing against Duncan, but Kingpin was always a huge fat white guy. Modify the Fat Bastard suit and it would look like the comic character.

No. The Kingpin is all muscle. Duncan is a fantastic choice.

I don't even follow comics, but even I know that.

I was flipping channels when I saw the Joe Not A Convicted Rapist sketch. (Very tasteless IMO) but I thought he was played by Chris Parnell.
