A Man Apart
Saw the trailer for this during the two towers. Anyone interested in seeing this? Vin Diesel stars as an narcotics officer who suffers a tragedy. I read in Premiere magazine that this is suppossed to be part a trilogy, but the studio has pushed the release date back numerous times. It looks like a decent movie to me. I think it is set to release sometime in April, but the studio is still deciding on whether to reshoot the ending or not. Anyone know anything else on this?

I have yet to see much advertising for this film anywhere, not in theatres, or on tv, but it comes out on April 4th..

Saw a preview for this with a LOTR:TTT showing. Nothing that hasn't been done before, and the trailer was done almost entirely by the book.

SPOILER********The main plot in reading some early reviews has Diesel teaming up with a drug lord to take down another one that kills his wife, not really hinted at in the trailer. Timothy Olyphant from GO and Dreamcatcher plays the drug lord he teams up with.

I saw a workprint of this that was floating around the net last year. It's a decent little action flick, almost '80s in feel in that it has titties and hardcore violence. No de-fanged PG-13 crap. It does LOOK like a modern film though, with all the glossy colourful visuals that you would expect. The plot is about what you see in the trailers: Vin Diesel is an officer who suffers a tragedy and seeks revenge against those who wronged him (drug dealers, of course). Several scenes take place in Latin America.
Timothy Olyphant is hilarious. Larenz Tate is cool. Diesel, unfortunately, is quite wooden and gives some horrible line readings. The gunfights are hard-hitting and obviously inspired by "Heat", though sadly over-edited in the de rigeur MTV fashion. This was especially disappointing when you consider director F Gary Gray's smooth, clear, and exciting action work in The Negotiator.
Overally, the film is nothing special, but certainly more entertaining and with more re-watchability than XXX. I intend to watch it again in the theaters. I wonder what they've changed after all these months?
BTW, the spoiler in Horsa's message is not actually a huge plot point in the film, so don't worry if you accidentally read it already.

I hope they don't cut it to get a PG-13. We need a good titties and hardcore violence flick.

With the way some people's posts seem to get blocked i was afraid to even discuss what the trailer shows and then get screamed at for spoilers so i just put the notice up in case.
