am i the only one who prefers cruel intentions 2 over 1?

although i have only seen the usa network version (dont worry, we still see the famous kiss), i just like the sequel better. it had a better overall plot, and i hate ryan what ever his last name is.
am i going insane with liking the dtv version over the thearetical verison?

The only thing worthwhile about Cruel Intetions 2 was Keri Lynn Pratt. My favorite underrated hottie:

I agree. The world will turn to sh*t if there are more people that like 2 over 1.

Heh, watching 2 now.

They are exactly the same except for less sexy teens in the sequel.

2 was awful, awful awful! That's why it was made direct to video.

2 had female nudity during a shower sequence. That alone makes it better than 1.

Actually it was made as a pilot for Fox that Fox refused to pick up. It was supposed to be a TV series. A pilot Fox wouldn't touch....you know it has to suck.

While I agree with the overwhelming majority here that 2 was a true cinematic abomination some information in regard to the origins of this disaster seem in order. Aside from the film itself 'sucking', this actuality wasn't the reason it was killed off before it was ever aired by Fox. It was originally a series titled 'Manchester Prep' and had filmed at least three episodes that I'm aware of. Fox executives didn't like the overt sexual direction the show was going in, particulary the scene of Keri Lynn Pratt having an orgasm while riding the horse, and decided to pass on the project. Having myself viewed the episodes shot, I'd venture to say the television show appeared to be relatively decent and would have served them well in the usual teen demographic, but as Fox was disinterested, Roger Kimble (writer/director of both) decided to shoot extra scenes with the cast and reedit the footage. Most of this consisted of profanity, 'The Kiss', and the obligatory nudity for the titillating R rating. It was thus sold to Showtime who originally aired it as 'Cruel Intentions 2'. For those interested, the plot and direction of the final film varies greatly from that of the series, and as always, for those who care enough to compare the two the episodes occasionally show up at the usual place (ebay).
