Yeah, since they started talking about it at Toronto, I've been interested in giving it a look. I wonder if it's really good or just "controversial" and I'd like the chance to form an opinion on it without traveling to some far off festival. Coming from the French, I'm initially skeptical of Brigand's selection criteria. No offense to any French around here, but I've often found their national statements on American policy to be cowardly hypocritical and have grown to take their comments on the subject with the grain of salt. Obviously this is just one guy, but it still gives me initial pause. That being said, I'd like to have access to the film in the relatively near future and see what these filmmakers had to say.
I do think the censorship accusation made by some is unfair, though: it's a documentary ... it's political ... it's an anthology ... and it's foreign ... come on, now ... the 9/11 subject matter is not the driving factor in its potential inability to find an audience. In fact, the ONLY reason this film is gaining the exposure it's had is BECAUSE of the subject matter.
