Someone Help Me Out Here
I'm speaking from ignorance, since I have yet to finish reading the trilogy. However, in "The Hobbit," you have the (man turned to bear) character "Beorn." He is by far my favorite character in the Hobbit. The way he saves them at the end of the book is so cool.
Is he ever mentioned in the LOTR books? It would be so great to see his character on the big screen.

He died of old age by the time of the first movie. He did have kids who also had the ability although some to a lesser degree. They helped keep the evil at bay in the area were they lived; however they were not a force that could help against Mordor.

I suggest anyone reading the books that do not want to hear some spoilers, not read any of the LOTR conversations. You can't help but pick up on a few interesting moments.

I just finished reading The Hobbit as well and found Beorn to be my favorite character-for various reasons. Funny how they left him completely out of the animated version of the book....
