Which of these movies are worth the big screen or not?
Are any of these movies worth seeing on the big screen or not? I'm thinking of seeing any one or all of them this weekend(weather premitting of course,as it's supposed to rain very hard in Northern California this weekend).
My choices are in no specific order:
Catch Me if You Can
Gangs of New York
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Maid in Manhattan
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Thanks for the help everyone!

Well, I loved LotR: TTT. Great film and a must see on the big screen! I also enjoyed HP and the Chamber of Secrets and Gangs of New York. I haven't seen the others yet but plan on seeing Catch Me If You Can tomorrow night. Even with all the hassles and annoyances I still prefer to see movies on the big screen first if I can.

I haven't seen it and may never see it so I can't say for sure, but it seems to me that the last of those you should see is pretty obvious. Let's just say the one I'm talking about doesn't look like it was "maid" to see on the big screen.
CMIYC was good at the theater, but I would try to see TTT and GONY first.

I say Two Towers demands to b e seen on the big screen.
I have not seen Gangs yet, but I think the grandeur of the set pieces alone should make it a Big screen choice as well.
I thought Harry Potter was ok, though I liked the first one more, personally I could have waited for video on that one.

Any movie you are interested in seeing should be worthy of a big screen showing. A matinee showing is cheaper than a rental these days. (Now.. if you have a girlfriend/wife, kids, or MUST buy crap at the snack stand.. perhaps a rental is cheaper..) As for other whining I hear about theaters these days.. trust me, if you go to a theater at a noon or before showing, in a part of town where there typically won't be the kind of people who talk and so forth at movies, you've got nothing to worry about.

And for your list, I've seen, or will see all on that list except for Laid in Manhattan.

If you're going to see Gangs of New York at all, see it at the cinema. I don't have much of an opinion one way or another wrt the other films you listed.
Personally, I was kind of disappointed by Gangs of New York, but enough people here and elsewhere have raved about it so I think you should probably decide for yourself.

from this list, I'd say two must see theatre flicks are
LOTR and CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.
gangs and maid are both average fair...while LOTR and CATCH are two of the finest films out this year.
