Aragorns Sword

Did they even mention Aduriel or Andarel or whatever the broken sword is called in this movie? I seem to remember Aragorn having the reforged sword in the book and the book seemed to make a big deal about it.

Not that I heard. This is probably a plot device to have Arwen show up in the 3rd movie - she will probably bring the reforged sword to him.

Yea... I wondered about that too... A friend of mine was convinced that he carried the shards of Narsal (I think that was the name of it) arround with him... in other words he was beating ork @ss even with a broken sword. But I also remember them making a big deal about the reforging of the sword in the book... like that ment that he had claimed his birthright... and was going to be King. But in the first movie it is on display in Rivendell, and you are never quite sure if he has it with him when he leaves with the fellowship.

In the book he carries the broken sword with him. In the PJ commentary in the EE edition, he explains that he decided not to have Aragorn fighting with the broken sword because, while it works in the book, it would look ridiculous on film (rightly so). So he instead had the sword 'enshrined' at Rivendell. I'm sure it will be reforged and come into play in ROTK

Aragorn's sword? Is that the name of the porno spin-off?

In the book Narsil is reforged and renamed Anduril before the Fellowship leaves Rivendell.

In the movie, after their departure from Rivendell it is clear that the sword Aragorn is carrying is not Narsil/Anduril.

Aragorn in the movie is different from Aragorn in the book. In the movie he is resisting his destiny to be king, thus no sword since that would mean he wouls accept the role of being king.

In the book he's in a sort of protective custody of Elrond so Sauron believes their is no heir to the throne, then when it's time to go to war against Sauron Aragorn can reclaim the throne and take Anduril.

In the book, Aragorn carries the shards of Narsil up until they reach Rivendell. The sword is reforged and is renamed Anduril (Flame of the West). The rest of the books he uses Anduril.

For whatever reason Narsil remains broken thusfar in the movies. I'm thinking Arwen comes w/ the Dunedain at the beginning of Return of the King and brings with her Anduril.

I also noticed that he hasn't been using the sword reforged from the shards of Narsil and that he hasn't been carrying it around on his back w/ his bow and quiver of arrows. But then I just figured this gives Arwen a perfect entrance into ROTK. I really don't have a problem w/ this little change to the story. I just can't wait for him to get Anduril, that scene should be pretty sweet - what are the name of the Fields in front of Minas Tirith that the great battle takes place on? I assume he will receive the sword then.

The Pelennor Fields. Does anyone think that the battle here in the ROTK film will be even more epic than Helm's Deep?

That's it, thanks. I think the battle will be even bigger because there will be more elements to it and because it is such a defining moment in the books for mankind/Aragorn.

Yes. It should be easier to watch then Helm's Deep also in terms of it won't be a huge mass of fighting where you can't really tell who is who. That was the only problem I had with an other wise awesome battle scene.
