Why aren't there any more comedy teams?
There are dozens of "buddy"comedies, but what happened to comedy teams in the style of the Marx Brothers, the 3 Stooges, the Ritz Brothers, the Bowery Boys, even Our Gang?
I would even settle for regular duos like Abbott & Costello or Laurel & Hardy. Instead, we get two established stars thrown together for no reason other than cashing in on their names, like Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro.
Honk!

Well, we had a good one going in Chris Fahrley and David Spade. Most actors like to broaden their horizons and try different things. So one movie might be a drama and then the next might be a comedy.
Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson are teaming up again for Shanghai Knights in an upcoming movie. Maybe this might be a start of an prosperous team... I loved Shanghai Noon.

I think there are plenty out there, actually, who could do great movies, if they could only get good movies to do! Or the backing to make the movies they want to. The last good comedy team movie I can think of is Brain Candy, but they should have made more. I am sure there are other good comedies out there with teams, but mostly with directing teams. The best comedies of late only pair the actors for one film, not for a series, and that's kind of a shame.

Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor are a great duo, a few years ago I heard that they both wanted to do another movie together unfortunately it didn't pan out. I also enjoyed Dom DeLuise and Burt Reynolds, they haven't been seen together since "Win, Lose or Draw"

What about Broken Lizard and The State?
Canada's Broken Lizard put out the underappreciated Super Troopers and members of The State put out the under-the-radar Wet Hot American Summer. Don't forget Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller in Zoolander although I don't know i they wrote the script and I'm too lazy to IMDB it.

Broken Lizard and The State are not related. They just both happen to release frigging funny movies.
I can't wait to see another movie from Broken Lizard. The first 10 min or so of SuperTroopers had me laughing harder than any other movie I've ever seen.

• Quoth The Bus •<HR SIZE=1>Nor did I say they were. Read it again. I was using the conjunction to denote both of them were comedy groups.<HR SIZE=1>

All the old comedy teams started out as Vaudville, and had many, many years to create, mend, and fine tune their act, which shows on the screen.
with the end of Vaudville, and the dawn of stand up comedy, well what you see is what you get.

The most recent comedy team in the old sense would be David Spade and Chris Farley. There have been a bunch of good single movie efforts by others (Jackie Chan springs to mind), but nothing that's in the vein of stuff by Martin and Lewis.
