Anyone thinking of visiting the locations?
I just watched the segment on the locations on the FOTR Extended Edition DVD, and started thinking about visiting some of these beautiful locations at one point in my life. This would be the perfect geek pilgrimage: incredible vistas (Tatooine, anybody?), untouched (fingers crossed) nature and, at the same time, places where Middle Earth came to life.
Visiting New Zealand has been on my mind for a long time, but the two gorgeous LOTR films we have so far have sealed it. One day I will sit on the hills of Hobbiton.
Anyone else feel this way?

If you do you won't be disappointed. There were a few tourists travelling the country on the LOTR location giuded tour in the last week or so. Even got themselves onto local TV!
I recommend you get this location guide book though;

I've been to some of the locations before they filmed there, I mean there some about 20 minutes walk from the middle of the city where I live (Wellington).
The props from WETE are on show in the local Museum untill late January 03 at the moment too. Though I guess they'll travel the world in due course.
Cheers
