A Question for Dr. El Scorcho (or any other punk afficianados)
I do think you're the resident punk guy, right?
I love punk covers since I heard of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - anyone else I should look for?
Thanks

Step into my office!
Check out the following CDs:
Punk Goes Metal
Punk Goes Pop
Before You Were Punk Vol 1
Before You Were Punk Vol 2
Me first & the gimme gimmes also have songs that aren't on their full length releases. Look for them on Kazaa:
Nothing Compares 2 U
Country Roads
Mother & Child Reunion
Only the Good Die Young
America
Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me
I Write the Songs
The Boxer
You've Got a Friend
Hats off to Larry
The Times They are a Changin'
I suggest you look at this site for complete discography on MF&TGG.
As for other bands and their covers, I'm gonna go from the top of my head here:
Face to Face - Standards and Practices EP (about 9 songs by bands like the Pixies, Pogues, etc.)
Goldfinger - Darrin's Coconut Ass EP (about 6 cover songs including "Just Like Heaven")
New Found Glory - From Screen to Your Stereo EP (about 7 songs from movie soundtracks)
Those are all the CDs I can think of. For single tracks (there are tons of them) do a google search for "punk covers" or somethin' like that.

These might be kind of hard to come by now, but The Circle Jerks and The Dickies used to do some great covers. The Dickies version of Knights in White Satin may be the best cover I've ever heard.
