Oh, man. I loved the video for HMTMKMKM... I think I'll be picking this one up. And it says that there will be alternate videos for some of the songs, including "One"... were there really THREE videos for that song? Yeesh. I'm curious what the "Story of One" documentary will be about, too.

The Buffalo is really a beautiful Video indeed very poignant.
Although I think one of the best videos they ever did was the Passengers Video for Miss Sarajevo, brings tears to my eyes every time

Wonder if Ben Stiller's version of "One" will be an easter egg?
But...what about the vids pre-1990? Did I miss that DVD?

Anyone else interested in seeing some of Stiller's great spoofs make it to DVD?

Although I didn't think the film was THAT great, "Stay!" always gets me, too....something about the angel-on-a-statue shot is so beautiful and sad...

About Ben Stiller coming to DVD, this is from a chat yesterday at HTF with Fox's Peter Staddon:
[AdamME] Any news on PCU or Fear of a Black Hat? Also, does Fox own the rights to the Ben Stiller Show?
[peterstaddon] Neither of those titles are being worked on at the moment, i'll have to check Fear of a Black Hat. The Ben Stiller show has some issues preventing us doing anything with it. I can't really say more than that.
So that doesn't sound so good

I picked this up tonight. Is it not supposed to be out yet? I want to make sure it's the right one though. The one I got comes in a jewel case with a disc (presumably the DVD) in an extra little cardboard slipcover over the front of the case but under the shrinkwrap. It's packaged like some of those Disney DVD's such as Monsters, Inc. that come with a CD-ROM.
It has a sticker that says "SPECIAL EDITION DOUBLE CD & BONUS DVD FEATURING THE BEST OF AND THE B-SIDES OF 1990-2000 PLUS 'HISTORY MIX' BONUS DVD 4400634380"
Is this the one, or is there another edition with a DVD?

I picked up the full DVD tonight. Apparently, a certain retailer I frequent put it out a few days early!
The total run time is 2 hours, 56 minutes, including documentaries. Audio is available in uncompressed PCM, as well as Dolby Digital, although so far I haven't been able to get any sound off the Dolby Digital track. The DVD's menus can be confounding to navigate until you get used to them, so I'm picking the DD track via the button on my remote I've never had a problem like this before, but maybe you have to select the track from the menu some how. Not that it matters. The PCM track sounds fantastic and is definitely the way to go since it's uncompressed. The audio commentaries work fine and are interesting so far, as are the mini-documentaries.
The DVD comes in a double-DVD digipak, similar to the one the "Elevation: Live from Boston" DVD came in. This is a single-DVD release, with the second DVD tray reserved for the sampler DVD that came packaged with the "Best of 1990-2000" CD.
The picture and sound quality is mostly excellent throughout. The only time I noticed any problems was on videos where the source material was deliberately poor quality (for example, on the video "Last Night on Earth").
The bad news is, despite a revealing mini-documentary about why there are three videos for "One," only two of the videos are included here. The one omitted, sadly, is the one featuring the buffalo running in slow motion. I'm hoping it's hidden somewhere as an easter egg, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm also disappointed that "Elevation" and "Walk On" are nowhere to be seen, and I'm hoping they are hidden as well.
All that said, for the price, this is a must for any U2 fan. Don't hesitate picking it up!

Wow, thanks for the info! It's very nice that they provided the double pack for the sampler DVD -- that was some good thinking.
I'm stunned if the buffalo video isn't included, because it appears on the sampler in the promo for this DVD. I strongly doubt Elevation or Walk On are on the disc, however. Sounds like a worthwhile pick-up for me, even if I already have all the songs (and most of them at least twice) on CD.

Thanks for the review. I really hope the buffalo video is somewhere on there! I could never find that version on file sharing programs so I was really hoping for it on this. Since there were easter eggs on the Live from Boston DVD, maybe they'll keep with that precedent.
BTW, Elevation and Walk On weren't on the Best of CD, so that's why they aren't on the DVD. You'll have to wait for Best of 2000 - 2010.
