NEW Pearl Jam Packaging-Sticker Nightmare! People, We Have A Problem

Has anyone picked up the new PJ album Riot Act. I went to Best Buy to pick one up yesterday. Once I got out to my car, I ripped off the shrink wrap and attempted to pull off the security sticker. To my suprise, when I removed the sticker it tore both the front and back of the digipack. Now, I'm not anal about these types of things but when I buy a CD new I expect it to look new for a least a couple of days. I went back into the store to exchange but found that all the CDs were packaged with the sticker and none could be opened without ripping the front and back covers.
After listening to some 17 yr. old kid for ten minutes explain to me why I couldn't return the disc only exchange it for another of the same I finally asked for a manager. After a few minutes of listening to his BS I finally told him that if I couldn't return the disc I was just going to keep opening PJ albums until I found one that didn't rip. So anyway, I ended up exchanging the disc for the new Sigur Ros (great, btw).

Long story short (too late), someone made a major mistake with this packaging. Has anyone else encontered this? What store sell CDs without these stickers? How about e-tailers?

Also, If you bought this CD and this happened to you, do not be afraid to take it back and request (demand) your money back. It is the responsibility of the store to provide you with a new product free from defect. This is not our problem. If all else fails, I'll burn the damn thing off the internet and save myself $12 bucks. Sorry P.J.

Thanks for listening to me rant,

BBP

I also got mine from Best buy.
Fortunately for me, the sicker was on the outside
of the plastic wrapping.

I picked mine up at borders, and the sticker was on the outside of the packaging.

However I purchased the single with the b-sides on it, and that has a barcode sticker directly on the digipack.(Won't be taking that one off I guess, and at least it's on the back)

Oh great, so I'm the only one who got screwed on this deal. Guess I'll be trying Borders and Circuit City after work.

thanks,

I got mine from Circuit City, I peeled the sticker off very slowly and it came off clean.

Ok Everyone can stop worrying......I found a copy at Borders with the sticker outside of the shrink wrap. Tragedy diverted. Circuit City (next door) also looked like its sticker would come off without a problem.

The world quietly sighs in relief.

Mine got ripped a little bit. But I haven't noticed since then, as I don't think I've put the CD back in the case yet.

i wouldn't say 'ripped', since the 'case' is glossy, but a small amount of the black came off while taking my sticker off... got it at circuit city (PM'ed to K-Mart).

I'm waiting to get this title for xmas, but I'm wondering how the inside packaging is. All their other albums (save Ten) had really interesting packaging...

Pics?

My sticker took a little bit of the shiny goodness with it, as well.

Yea. I was really impressed. Buying the album because I had to (see first post) was a pleasant suprise. The music is truly moving and just gets better and better the more I listen to it. Initially, I was hesitant to get into Sigur Ros but they won me over with this one. I guess Ill have to pick up their last album now as well.
